Finally! Glad to see all the fellow bow hunters. I hunt in Florida and our bow season has been over for a week. Black Powder right now. Good luck to all you out there.

Thought I was going to get out possibly tonight, and definitely tomorrow. This storm off the coast seems to be messing that plan up. This is the last weekend for archery, and black powder opens up next weekend. One of my stands is too close to houses for blackpowder, so I'll probably still hunt that with the bow through the rut.

I had a afternoon hunt yesterday and had 4 does in range but no shot opportunity, I need one bad freezer is empty.

Other then a 7 day interruption for gun season our bow season runs tell about the middle of January.

Also got my DuHa modification completed and installed ammo can is a field dress kit, green bag has tree stand steps (Bear Claw) and rope for dragging deer if needed.

Heres a couple (blurry) pictures of it for everyone to see.

Went this morning and saw nothing. Wind didn't do quite what it was supposed to and I probably should have sat in one of my other stands. Wind has picked up and rain started so I don't plan on trying this evening. The deer are most likely hunkered down for the storm at this point.

I missed another one yesterday. The shot was marginal, and I never should have taken it. It was 56yds at 7pm. Never did find that arrow so I was concerned I hit her, but I couldnt find any blood, so I hope the arrow just skipped off the ground and sailed into the woods while the doe left unscathed. I hate the thought of leaving good meat in the woods for the yotes.

If I did miss, I wont miss a 3rd time as firearm season opens this saturday. That 30-06 has a little more reach than my PSE.

I usually pick up the gun if I end bow season with an empty freezer, then go back to the bow after I get some meat. Cross your fingers that Ill be bow hunting again soon.

is that a common bow shot distance in Texas, assuming thats were your hunting by your profile ?

Wouldn't even be possible in the woods I hunt.

Not in my part of the state, but I hunt over a food plot. Its a little football shaped plot that is about 100yds x 55yds at the laarges point. Its right at about an acre. I knew better than to take the shot, but I couldnt help myself. Im proficient up to about 55 yds with a target, but then again, targets dont move.

Not bow hunting this year :( Lost my release then found it just the other day as I was preparing to go hunting with me 270........... I was mad and happy at the same time, though I guess I could have bought all new equipment, I have yet to find a more sensitive release than the one I have now so I was bummed when I couldn't find it. I'll hunt bow next year.

I put this one down this morning, first of hopefully many to take a ride in the Silverado.

Not an old one but I'm happy to have him, slim jims on the way. :happysad:

Congrats on the nice buck. We are in black powder season now, so the bow is put up. My buddy shot a real nice 10 pointer on thurs (after getting a 9 pointer and 3 pointer on Monday). I got a small racked 6 pointer this morning. Rack was kinda weird...stickers at bases pointed straight back. I'm not good at aging based on jawbone but it didn't appear to be a real young deer. Anyway, this brings it up to 2 so far for me this year. I'll try for one more and then call it a year because I can't use any more meat. There are a couple other real nice bucks that have been seen in the area, but I'll take whatever comes in range first as long as its not a yearling or spike.

Thanks

Speaking of spikes after checking my buck out I returned to the base of the tree I was hunting out of about the time I reached the tree I see a spike (16" spikes) headed straight toward my dead buck.

Figured he had some little buck syndrome going on and was going to take a little aggression out on him. lol

Had to yell & wave both arms in the air to get the spike to turn around just before reaching my buck.
