manual around town??

is it okay to run my truck in m4 or m5 around town?? does it help with mileage?? the whole M thing is new to me. all my other trucks shifted on their own.

You can leave it in drive and it will shift on it's own, or use manual to pick the gear. I think tow haul mode keeps it in 4th at about 35mph around town, but your mileage will suffer a bit. try tow haul, then drop it into manual and it will show you what gear it's already in. I would just say play around with it until you find what you like. Your best mileage will be in drive, without tow haul mode on.

I always drive in M4 or M5 around town depending on speeds. Cuts down on gear hunting, engine lugging and makes it more responsive. No idea on MPG. I could care less about what would be a marginal loss, if any.

Before I had mine reprogrammed I drove it in M5 to keep it from utilizing AFM since I couldn't stand the constant back-and-forth between cylinders. No difference in mileage by doing that in my truck. After programming It's gone up about 2 MPG average since disabling AFM, however.
