Raylar head design & specification

Like previuosly posted.. I have a raylar cam installed...And its great a night and day difference from stock, I planned on doing there aluminum heads, I thought ray from raylar told me around $2600.. I called today checking prices and spoke to someone else.. And the gut said $7000 for the heads complete ready to install.. And i was shocked. Ive never seen heads that expensive..Even if they do make 70-80 Hp..Thats to much just for them..

So my idea is now to find and oem good set a heads and have them worked to be similar to the raylar set if thats possible besides the aluminum obviously.. Am i able to find a ggod engine builder and/or machine shop and have the oem heads worked to be close.. Please let me know if any of you guys have played with the oem 8.1 heads, Thanks

Really...121 views and nobody has a comment or answer.. Im just trying to see if the stock heads can be worked to even come close to raylar specs to pick up some flow and power...

Yukon, ray must have quoted you a set of bare bones CNC heads eh? And the second price ($7000) must have been complete with valve train etc...

Those engines are so few and far between it would be hard to score something out of a scrapyard but you could try. Or buy a set of OEM remanufactured heads, polish them up a bit bring them to a machine shop. Look around for an engine shop/speed shop...maybe deck the head for more compression. I polished/decked my heads on my 6.0, I used a scrap yard find polished them up myself. You will never see a solid 80hp across the board like that tho...that big block stuff really is above my head man. I would do a set of long tubes/port & polished OEM heads IMO.

Your best bet you be to find a speed shop or an engine shop. Call them up see what they can do...

Ive been looking around..you can get an 8.1 on ebay from $750-$4000+ Also Ive seen just the stock heads.. Im defintly gonna grab another motor just to have, I love the 8.1 and when it comes to them raylar seems the only way to go..there havethere shit together and make big pwr and tq nums with them.. My original plan was grab an 8.1 go 30 over with it, and the raylar crank,pistons,rods,cam,heads,intake,etc... Then swap it in the truck.. But its big dollars and at that point id beover 600 HP and dont really want to put that much money into the allison to hold up to that pwr/tq

So right now i have cai,exhaust,tune..and the raylar cam..So im just going to get there complete heads..$3100 and the set of stainless works longtubes, and let justin tune,, At that point ill be slighty over 500 hp and ill be happy

Well their you go bud!! $750 for a set of bbc heads doesn't seem too bad! That would seem like a cool idea, find an engine slowly build it up. Even if it took a few years, imagine having a bored/stroked 8.1!!! Would be one nasty build!! Imagine driving a 10 litre!! LOL

I was always told that heads were the best way of making pure power increases across the board on a naturally aspirated eng. ever thought of a turbo? STS makes a kit for the 8.1 I believe

Yea the 750 was for a used complete engine.. Ive seen the 8.1 heads from 300-450, So like you said it can sit in the shed and ill do it little by little,

raylar has a 600 cubic inch motor they built..its a dart block with there internals,heads,etc...

But thats going to be a great motor im not sure on the math but the 496 '30 over is like a 505 or something, Ya can you imagine a 600hp big block 1 ton pickup...:drool::drool:
