Generation Gap: Smart Phones

...Give a 10 year old legos or toys now and ur kid will run away ...

It is sad, isn't it?

I don't have a personal phone. Just a work phone. It is anoying enough.

My daughter (17) has got a simple cell phone too. Just for that she can be reached at or she can make a CALL!

Personally I hate texting. As stated by another user a call is 3x faster than texting back and forward.

And don't get my wrong but most people I see texting or surfing the net on their phone are not that kind of people who are to busy to make a call.

Anyway, when I'm so busy and not having time to call how do I have time to text a message?

Maybe that's one reason why many jung Canadians are so "exhausted"...lmao.

so long

Im a phone junky. Love my Android. I started with pagers when I was younger, and have had something every since.

Best use for phones, sitting in the mall waiting for the wife while she shops lol.

I text for quick things like "I'll be there in 10 min" or something but I don't get those who have real conversations via text.

because whats more awkward/annoying talking on the phone with long pauses or texting back and forth with long pauses lol i hate talking on the phone because then im restricted to holding a phone where texting i can just say whatever real quick and be done with it i dont need to make filler conversation

Exactly how I feel, I Txt more than I talk on the phone lol. It's easier. My Friends are the same too, cuz when you call they never pick up. But if you txt you get an answer within the hour usually.

Plus when I'm at work ur not allowed to have ur phone on you, so it's easier to sneak a txt here and there ahah

only time i talk on the phone is if its business or my friend that drives truck, if hes out on the road and needs help with something or i need help with something then im fine being on the phone so he can concentrate on the road, but other than that we usually just have dumb text conversations here and there lol

Texting is a lot easier. Here is a text conversation. Lasted 10 minutes including wait time

My friend jason:"casino tonight?"

Me:"I thought we decided to go to the strip club"

Jason:"oh yeah, we did... which one?"

Me:"F*** it, let's go gamble. Aviator at 7"

Jason:"OK"

I just avoid talking to people by any means. Even though I have a work issued phone it never works so I use mine and that is by far the bulk of my minutes used monthly.

i used a whole 8 minutes on my bill last month and over 9000 texts :rollin:

Typical chick.

One month I was surprised I sent 300! But with iPhone a bunch of mine are to other iPhones so it isn't counting as a text message, it's just data.

im surprised my data was just over 1 gig, i have two people that i talk to pretty much all day every day so my texts are going to be through the roof

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
