opions of crotch rockets driving aggressively

I've said twice now that I agree with your statement that doing these actions on roads with others is not safe and shouldn't happen. But lumping every guy that has a sportbike into the category of an idiot because they may play with them out in the middle of nowhere is ridiculous. That is pretty much like saying all people that race sportbikes are idiots. There is a lot of things out there that are dangerous and could kill you but all of us still do them.

But I did just go back and read a post I didnt see when typing early that you had submitted. I now see what your stance is an I appologize as I see you just meant the guys in the videos. WIth that said I still don't think we see eye to eye on several things but I'll call it an agree to disagree. I get very angry when coversations like this come up because my buddy was my best friend since I was nine, served 4 years in the Marines with two tours in Iraq, came home and opened a his bike up on a backroad 6 months after returning home and bad luck caught up with him.

sorry about your friend and the deer . One of the reason I dont drive a bike . If you live in the country there is a high chance of hitting a deer with any vehical. Bad luck yes but not really at the same time I am only 26 and ive been in many close calls with deer. If i was going faster i would not be able to slow down or stop in time never mind going way to fast on a back road with a bike . If there is a deer and your going that fast you wont be able to stop or slow down in time and will hit it . There is a good chance of hitting a deer going to fast on back roads . I would not call it bad luck just bad decisions.

I understand your reasoning but most backroads without houses are not marked or 50 around where we live. You hit a buck or a decent doe at 55 and it's pretty much over with full gear anyway.

Hell, that is the chance you take with any type of bike. I knew a guy that had a bird smoke him on the highway and it broke bones in his chest.

Long story short, you smoke a big animal like a deer with a bike or vehicle at 100 mph it has real bad results.

EDIT: I meant any MPH, my fault.

I wouldn't mind a sport bike, I love my dirt bikes and think it would be just as fun to ride a crotch rocket. Also, people buy bikes for there incredible mileage too. Just think about it, you have a car with a 12 gallon tank getting you 600 miles per tank, then you have a motorcycle getting the same distance with a way smaller tank with probable less cost all in all. And don't harp on the mileage thing, I don't know true numbers but it serves as a comparison.

Just in case u wanted some real numbers i avg 42 mpg or better. My bikes nearly stock but did put down 156 hp at the wheels. My old 600 i never kept track of to well but was high 50s

I hit a bird doing about 120 ish (on a road course not a public highway) it hit me in the shoulder and I was wearing my Armored Alpine Star Kevlar coat and it still left a good size bruise, cant imagine what hitting a deer would feel like...... if you felt it at all.

Not sure if he did or not... after he hit the deer the bike and him went though a section of mailboxes for a group of houses down a really long lane. Those mailboxes had a history of being vandilized so they were built with 4x4 treated lumber, set in concrete. He and/or the bike leveled those mail boxes and then hit about a 40" round oak tree. It was SO loud that the people down the 1/4 mile lane came out to see what happend and found him in the road unresponsive. My nighmare was that they had to gather him up but his parents told me the coroner said he was in one piece.

He was a Harley rider, got away from sportbikes after one of his friends was hurt real bad in high school. The night he died him and a buddy traded bikes for the night, it was a 2009 R1, his was a 100th anniversary fatboy with about 30-40k in it. His dad built it for him while he was away. He did one speed run that night to see what it had and that was all she wrote.

Sorry to hear about the losses in this thread, but I will never like the "squids" as their called that ruin my driving experience I cannot stand the bikers around here specifically because they think they can do anything. While driving my Buick ive had several coming at me in my lane and they weren't passing!! Just cruising 4 wide down a two lane road, I didn't swerve any if those times and needless to say I scared them straight... Never play chicken with a 96 Buick when you're on a street bike.. I hope they learned their lesson because I won't hesitate to do it again in a truck.

I have no problem with the responsible riders but either due to luck or the fact I drive tons, I run into the asshats plenty too. They can do whatever they want around me and I don't care- they're on maybe 600 lbs of bike, I'm in a few tons of truck so if I need to slow down suddenly when they're tailgating or if I don't move over when they ride the centerline it isn't gonna hurt me one bit. On a side note, Michigan overturned it's helmet law this spring and now there have been a few news articles where some POS gets himself killed because he had no helmet on and family members get quoted as saying "if helmets were still law, he might still be here today". REALLY??!?! Where the hell did individual responsibility go? It isn't Michigan's job to protect your loved one from him/herself, if they want to be an idiot and ride without a helmet, their loss.

Or maybe just maybe had he not had a blood alcohol level of .21 and a hand full of throttle, but I'm sure it was all the state of Michigan's fault cuz he didn't have his helmet on.

( the story I just read on MLive the guy was .21 BAC and entering the freeway with a handfull of throttle and hit a Semi, pretty sure the helmet was null at that point)

The one I read this morning the other driver was technically at fault, she made a left turn in front of the bike, never seeing him. The girl in the car wasn't drunk, on the phone or anything. But what really pissed me off about that article is I guess the riders parents asked him to wear the helmet but he said he didn't because he "lived life on the edge". Fool.

Wow, sorry bout your buddy!! That is one of those things that you risk everytime you crack the throttle on anything

Thanks man, that is pretty much how we all have tried to accept it. We have all done it and lived through it, it was just his time to go.

I live in/near an area known for 'scenic rides' and 'poker runs' that go by near every weekend during nice weather. Ive had it happen several times where the Harley riders are three abreast, one fully into the on coming lane. Yeah, I really enjoy having to take the ditch because of em'. I don't get it. Is it a power trip? Some kind of magical touring moment being symbolised by running the big bad truck/car off the road? Not all of us on 4 wheels are the enemy.

Best ones for me so far are the two times Ive been chased down for using my windshield washers. Seriously. One dude turned around and followed me until I stopped. Second time the dude was behind me. Good g**, now I gotta watch when I wash dead bugs off the windshield. Thats what I was told. LMAO.

The groups of 20+ riders driving 20-30 under the speed limit and not letting anyone pass, those irk me a heckuva a lot more than the go-fast bikes.

These activities are pretty common around here. Police will NOT do anything because usually some of the riders ARE the police.
