Find a used LQ9 and throw it in. Tune it. And be happy. 325 to the wheels makes me happy every time I get on it

 

Only downside is having to run 91 in it

I have 87-89 or 93 here, I dont know the numbers your giving me.. whats an lq9?

I was thinking just do a set of heads,cam,and long tubes..then tune,

It made sense what someone else posted..If its not burning il or making bad noises, I might as well work with whats there..

Just not sure what direction to go in with the heads and cam.. my first 5.3 build..I went with the raylar cam for the big block because it makes pwr & tq right away not all at top end,

The comp cams might be better foe the small block stuff..but the 8.1 cam really only made or showed pwr over 3500 rpm,s..

I want to do it right and have everything work together! Edelbrock is pricy but they seem to have nice stuff.. Im going to get the LT,s from stainless works.

LQ9 is the RPO code for the high output 6.0. And 91 is the minimum octane and that's premium here

 

For heads and cam for a 5.3 look at Texas speed. They have head and cam packages. I'm going to get a stage 1 setup from them with a mild cam

I have a rattle in the exhaust but other than that its fine
