(FYI, that's what motor the C7 will have as per the new C&D)GM seems to be overdoing the name recycling lately. You know, because no one who know it was an engine if it has called the KX2 because name recognition is what will sell the cars.......please tell me American consumers aren't THAT stupid

It would be one thing it they stuck their guns for a decent amount of time on a name.

They often re-use RPO codes- the LT1 engine of the 90s and then one in the late 60s or early 70s. And GM engines are always Lxx, that's just how it is.

What?

You asking me or the OP?

If me- LT1 is an RPO code or regular production option. GM uses RPOs to show exactly how a vehicle was equipped. If you open your glove box you'll see a sticker with a bunch of three digit alphanumeric codes. These are RPO codes.

It's an LT1 (Gen2)....

No, its at least the gen 3. The C3 and C4 both had "LT1" engines(was a high output motor in the C3....want to say it was an option motor name in the c2 also but can't remember

They're not talking about generations of the whole SBC family, just the LT1. This is the third iteration of the LT1 name.

So I wonder if they will resurrect the LT4 or LT5

This^

As for LT4, you can bet on it. Remember the 70s BIG blocks has LS engine designations. Which is my point, GM is hooked bad on name recognition. Makes me think they have less faith in their product. It's not like they are

constantly using the same names, they bring them back from the dead.
