Mpg and ethanol

Just wondering if any of you have tried different grades of gas and with or without ethanol. I have noticed a difference of 2mpg or so (by the meter) on my 2012 Sierra 4.8 crew cab. At 60 in cruise with no ac I get 18.7 and with ethanol free I got 20.4. Its hard for md to do the calculations on a whole tank as my wife drives it and is a bit of a wild card. Just wondering if any of you have tried this. In my are chevron supreme and conoco 76 all grades are ethanol free.

I noticed that gas with ethanol you get worse fuel mileage.

My reasoning is that the fuel is diluted with the ethanol and you get less fuel mileage because of it.

Mileage will go down significantly with ethanol, up to 25%

Yep, the 10% blend that is common throughout the US costs a good bit of MPG. I'd agree with a 2 mpg difference- when I was in school the dorms were on the CT/MA line and one had the E10 and one still used MTBE and the straight gas was about two MPG better if memory serves.

And feel like you picked up 10-15 HP, I run it in everything!

If I want power I'll run E85. Truck runs awesome on it but 12 mpg is lame.

Mills Fleet and Farm here has 2 grades of ethanol free, 89 and 91 octane. I only run 89 ethanol free in my silverado.

Been running E85 for 3 yrs straight

I ran nothing but e85 the first two years I had my truck and averaged 16 MPG. Right now running regular gasoline I'm getting 18.5 MPG. I prefer e85, but the current price spread is making it tough to buy.

12 was all highway. Mixed was closer to your numbers. Dune weekend was 8. lol
