Changing a drivers side mirror and motor.

Anyone have any tips for taking out the mirror and top cap off a drivers side mirror on a 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500. I broke mine by not paying attention while backing in the garage. I have the whole assembly off my truck already. I know there are 4 bolts that hold the mirror motor in place. Does the mirror just unsnap from the motor? Mine was broken out. I also wonder about taking off the top cap without breaking the little tabs. Any suggestions?

we just went through the same problem, hit the pass power window on a low ice covered branch broke just the outer black plastic cover. Yep it will come off, if yours is broken you look along the edges there are small clips that hold it on. We had to purchase the complete mirror and I laid mine on the heat vent warmed it up before tryng to remove it with small trim screwdriver. Hope that will help ya

I got mirror assembly changed out. I don't what was harder. Getting the top cap off or putting the nuts back on the studs without removing the door panel. It is finished now. Looks good.
