bigger tires

Right now I've got stock 265/70/17's on my 12 GMC and I'm thinking about buying a set of 20's. Am I going to get my self into trouble with my computer or will I be good to go? I'm not sure of the tire size, but definitely looking at 20's. Any advice would be appreciated.

Stock 20" tire is 275/55R20. It will be really close to the size you have now.

 

Here is a chart showing the sizes and how it will throw off the speedometer using the 275/55R20

I have a 2wd and 20's with a 275/55R20. I also have a leveling kit. If you look in the signature that's the tire size

For my self I would not mine getting a rim of like 16" and getting bigger tires. Tires are way cheaper on a 16 inch rim even bigger tires.

If you don't go off road a bigger rim is fine. I'm stepping up to 22" TBSS rims soon

Just an FYI. 16" rims will not fit a gmt900... I tried!

Rarely leaves the garage and never go off roading, got a side x side for that, I just like the look of the bigger tires.

The stock size is about the same, for bigger look into a 285/55R20. I think the stock size on 20's is perfect

If you don't do a level then a 275/55R20 If you do then a 285/55R20

You could go 275 65 20 If you get the front end up a little bit.. Its like 34" tall with the stock width..

Those will rub on a 1500, even with a leveling kit and stock wheels.

 

To the OP, 275/55/20 is about the limit on stock suspension. With a leveling kit, you could run 285/55/20, 275/60/20, or 305/50/20.
