What have you got in there now? I've never really looked into having a manual installed should be interesting because these models never had a manual offered

It's got a stock 5.3l with auto 4 speed

 

I plan on doing all the work myself, between my dad and i once i get him on board we should be able to knock it out.. hopefully

For the $ and trouble it would take for a manual swap, you can build an awesome auto tranny. But some people just like manuals

The problem i have with an auto is sometimes it gets confused about what gear it wants to go into, but it's also a stock chevy auto right now.. nothing to write home about at all

If you have a 4 speed now go with a 4 speed. check out finish line transmissions. I will be going with their Level 5 4L65E

Put an 8.1 in it with some raylar internals.. you,ll be over 500 hp and have all the TQ you will ever need.

A real motor should have more TQ then HP, unless your looking for a high reving import.

Well you will have to go to a 4L80E transmission at minimum. Probably need to change motor mounts and computer. It is a Big Block. You will not even remotely get good gas mileage, but it will be a torque monster. Probably as close as you can get to the torque of a diesel without stepping up to a diesel

Just my opinion.. A small block will be cheaper to build But can only do so much..
