Well "Operator Error" has struck again!

I thought I would share this with you since every time I think about it I just shake my head and say "What an Idiot I am"

 

This past spring I bought a brand new "Ready To Race" Traxxas Slayer Pro 4X4 RC Truck with no intention to race it just as a hobby to screw around with in the yard. After thrashing around for a month or two...I had some broken parts on the thing that I had to replace...At the same time my 5yr old laptop took a sh*t on me. So for months while I was paying off my new laptop, the RC car just sat on the shelf in the garage in pieces till last week when I decided to order everything I needed for it to get it back running since I figured it would be fun to run around in a little bit of snow.

 

So the other day I get all the parts in the mail, I completely disassemble the truck...clean all the mud off of everything, replace broken parts and reassemble. By this time it was late Thursday night. Since the Poconos were supposed to have a significant snowfall yesterday (Friday) I took a half a day off of work figuring I would come home, get the truck out early in the afternoon once we get a dusting and go out and tear it up.

 

OK Here comes the meat of the story:

 

I take the truck out..put fuel in it....crank it over...it attempts to start..but wont...pour fuel in the carb...starts for a second then quits..kept trying this for an hour or so...then I thought (not being too experienced with Nitro run vehicles) that maybe the fuel from being in my garage all this time was too cold that when its sucked into the cylinder it cools the glow plug down too much and wont run..Brought the whole car and fuel in the house for about 3 hours to let it warm up...go back out...nope same thing...Took the carb off of it...completely disassembled it....cleaned it...reset all needles back to factory settings and put it back together..took it back out...nope same problem...By this time it was 6pm and dark outside..Brought it back in..and this time...right as i was about to give up on this...I look at the red and black wires on the electric start motor and think to myself "Thats a DC motor because it starts with a Battery operated controler...so if I had the wires reversed when I put it all back together the motor would crank over in the opposite direction..." So I switch the wires...take it outside, FIRES RIGHT UP!!!!

 

The whole time I was spinning the motor over in the opposite direction.....EPIC FAIL ON MY PART

Well if nothing else the internals got a good cleaning

Ah, it happens, just gotta laugh at yourself. I rotated the tires on my wifes Envoy yesterday, but I checked the air pressure first and added to get the tires correct to factory specs; 30 in front, 35 in rear. Then I rotated them.... good thing I caught it and then reaccomplished the air pressure adjustment.

 

As long as nothing was hurt and you didn't cuss around any kids, its all good.

I parked my wives Buick, applied the E-brake and left the engine running.

For some reason I left the trans in gear. I really don't know why...

Stepped out of the car and slammed the door.

All I could hear was a "click" and the doors were locked.

 

Shouldn't be a problem when you can find the spare keys...

I ended up drilling out the lock on the passenger door because I wasn't able to unlock the doors with a wire from the inside.

 

5 month later we moved into our new place and guess what we found in a cabinet drawer...the spare keys.
