Yep - there's the reason they fail so soon in the first place ...

Grease fittings have gone the way of floor vents, and vent windows. Sadly ...

yep that grease will get old in there and become crap . Those life time garatee sealed things are not life time at all . A life time for a vehical is not even close to a life time of a person .

How long can I expect these to last? I'm just now pulling the stock ball joints out and they are around 13yo and have 308k miles on em

It's hit or miss. Sometimes you win the mechanical lottery, like I did - 38k miles and my lowers were smoked.

BTW, Moog parts still come with grease fittings.

If the OEM ones gave you 13 years and 308k, I would put OEM back on. Drilling and adding a grease fitting will not likely work, and may make it wear out faster due to damage done to the cup portion. It it were as simple as just drilling and adding the fitting, the manufacturer would have done that and raised the price by a dollar.

Nope, my 2012 2500HD 4X4 has greaseable ball joints.

GMT-900's should be: 1/2 tons only have greasable tie rods, not ball joints. 3/4 and 1 tons should have greasable tie rods, upper ball joints, and lower ball joints.

Yep - that's how mine is set up. Had no idea the heavier chassis models got the nipples. Us half-ton guys got jyped ...
