Help a former Ford guy with exhaust

Hey I'm new to the the forum and being a GM owner. I just bought a 2004 silverado 1500 with the 5.3 and love it except that my buddies stock impala has louder exhaust than my truck. This was my first truck and really loved the way it sounded but want to do something different <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jlZg24kNnOI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> . My last truck was a 6.0 powerstroke which I know is kind of comparing apples and oranges but it had 5in pipe with a diamond eye muffler and sounded absolutely amazing. Under normal driving it wasnt much louder than stock but at wot it was 3x louder than the super 10 on the old f150.

So the long drawn out question is I'm looking at magnapacks, borla xr1, and maybe another super 10. I originally bought the super 10 because it was new and no one had it, now they are everywhere and I want my truck to be different. Is there a muffler that can compete with it in the decibel department and still sound good? Also I am probably doing duals out the rear that are 45'd. Thanks in advance

If you want to spend the cash go with a Corsa Sport. It only comes in right side exit and dual out the back. Its not cheap but the best I have heard. My second favorite is the MBRP system. I had it before the Crosa. I had dual out at 45's with that

The corsas sound good all I can find is kits that exit at the stock location and they are pretty proud of them. Does anyone have any experiece with the borla xr1, s type, or magnapacks?

The borla xr-1 will drone bad. I looked into it. And the single exit corsa looks damn good with that tip. They are proud of it but search the part number on amazon. I also like the sound of the corsa. Also look into MBRP

my mbrp arrived at a friends in Colorado last week! Stoked to pick it up. (1-1/2 weeks left) I live in Canada do im going to be picking it up myself, but when I get it ill post a video and tell you all what I think. I've heard its a good sounding system.

You can get Corsa sound for half the price with dB exhaust systems. Corsa muffler with lower grade but still stainless pipes. My truck is a 2011 but you get the idea still:

Quiet under cruise but nice and loud when you romp on it.

Feel free to though I'd expect it'd sound like a SSS with a Corsa which is to say not all that different than mine since it has a Corsa muffler too.

Just don't be like every other schmuck who just revvs it in their driveway using their damn cellphone so it sounds like garbage.

I should re-do mine now that I have a HD camera.

I will be using a camera, and it will be on a long road. Difference to the guys with SSS's is they usually do headers and no cats

x2 on the Corsa dB series if you can still get the muffler. Once it 'broke in' after a few thousand miles, it sounds amazing! 50,000km later and it still sounds great. Everyone that rides in my truck can't believe how relatively quiet the exhaust is when cruising on the highway

I have a mbrp dual 2.5 outs at 45 angle, and its nice but pretty rank drone. not like, nice rumble, drone.

My MBRP didnt drone until I did my engine swap. No drone with the 4.8. I had the 4.8 cats and MBRP cat-back for a couple months with the 6.0

which kit? I have the aluminized installer series. 3" cat back dual 2.5" angled exhaust with 3" rolled tips

perhaps the tips could make a difference
