GMT-900 Rear drum adjustment

Recommended Posts

Posted
I need to replace my rear shoes soon and will need to adjust them once I'm done. I know they will self-adjust on their own.

How much resistance needs to be on the drums initially? Should they make 1 or 2 revolutions when spinning the wheel? Should there be a slight drag on the drums or no drag at all but very close to the drums and then they will adjust to the right resistance later?
What if both sides are not adjusted the same initially? Will they self-adjust evenly after braking in reverse a few times?

    • Those are great questions, Bill. Our team looked into your VIN and it doesn't appear to have AFM or DFM. Please know, we take the personal and private information of our customers seriously, and we don't recommend posting your full VIN publicly. As for Auto Stop, some vehicles have a button to turn Stop/Start off for one ignition cycle. If the vehicle is equipped with the Stop/Start deactivation switch, you can push the switch to turn off Stop/Start. Stop/Start is turned off when the LED indicator on the switch is not illuminated.
