Need help deciding on Tires

It's time to start looking for some new tires. The stock Bridgestone Deulers have around 55 000 miles and are almost done. I am moving up a size to a 275 70 18 and need some help deciding. I want to go with something more aggressive.

I have had BFG All Terrains in the past and really liked them. The other tires I have been looking at are the:

-Toyo Open Country A/T2

-Cooper AT3

-Goodyear DuraTrac

Any pros and cons/ good or bad experiences any of you guys have had with these tires would be appreciated.

Also what are you're thoughts on raised white letters on a black truck...personally I like them showing.

Thanks in advance for any advice

these are all very different tires :

personally from selling tires all day i would say stay away from the TOYos as they are usually loud tires and honestly hard to find. Toyo usually is a "catalog" tire as we call it in the business wich means alot of distributors dont carry them. so for ease of access i would go with the coopers or the goodyears.

the goodyears alot of customers told me that they liked the tire but was a expensive tire...i usually talked people into the nittos as you can save a few bucks and nitto is always available. If its a look your looking for i dont blame you the duratrac is aggressive and can create that look you want if thats what your looking for.

you need to ask yourself what is it that you want. If your even looking at the cooper at3 this tells me that you just want an all terrain tire but then you got the duratrac wich tells me your looking at aggression...

so to me i would set you up.(if i were selling you tires) i would say cooper zion (if avalible in your size) , Nitto terra grappler. and maybe a hankook atm ...those would all serve your purpose and look good.

I run 275/70/18 - E DuraTracs thru the winter. My truck does plow duty, hands down best winter tire I've EVER run.

I think I have narrowed it down between the BFG All Terrain $214.00 per and the Dura Trac at $245 per tire.

White Letters? In or Out?

I just got Duratrac's 275/70/18 a few weeks ago and so far are great!. Have only had them in dry & wet conditions so far. Am going camping Next weekend so should see some mud then & I can update you on how they do. They are a nice aggressive looking tire but not overly loud. They are louder than stock but not as loud as I expected them to be.

Do you have a Leveling kit? I'm not sure if they will fit without one.

I would go White Letters in. I have white letters out on my '78 Vette, but on newer vehicles I like the Black letters out. Also seem like it would be easier to keep clean.

Here's a couple pics of mine.

Just had my Toyo MT's installed a few weeks ago and I love them so far...Not to loud and ride smooth for a M/T. Had BFG AT's on a black CC V-Max Z-71 before this truck and they were nice...If your looking for an A/T the BFG is hard to beat....They get good mileage too

Been over a year now, how do you like your DuraTrac's? Any rubbing at extreme turns with the 275/70/18? (I assume you are still stock suspension?) Thanks!

They are great. I have a 2.25" level and no rubbing. Had them up north in some mud and rocky terrain last weekend and they have sooo much traction. In deep snow they are amazing too. Still loving the tires. They hurt fuel mileage by about 2-4 mpg.... But they are nice and look bad ass. I get a lot of compliments on them

Wow, so the DuraTracs hurt your fuel mileage by 2-4 mpg? That seems like a ton, considering I'm averaging 13-14 mpg in town.

yeah. That's going off my DIC. which is also off a bit because of the size change. My overall avg is about 14 which is a mix of hwy & city. It does come up on the hwy, but I could get close to 20 mpg on stock tires on the hwy, I can't get near that now...
