Fog lights question

So when i purchased my truck it didnt bother me that my truck didnt come with fog lights. Now that i see more and more trucks around, i regret not getting them. Is it possible for me to swap bumpers and put them in myself? Are the wires already run to the front? My other option is getting a grille guard and putting aftermarket. Any ideas??

I had to laugh when I saw this post. My sales guy was looking for a 13 for me, and found literally everything I wanted on my list. He told me he had found my truck. I went to the dealer site that had the truck and had a picture of the actual truck. It literally was everything I wanted, except it didn't have fog lights.

I told him no-go. My wife (who has had to endure this search for a few weeks now) told me if she were this salesman she would tell me to foxtrot oscar.

Sorry I have no idea on your original question, but I understand.

If your truck has the fog light button or switch or whatever (not sure what it is on these new 14's) then the harness should be there, but my guess is you don't have the switch for it so the harness isn't there, because they weren't going to install the harness for shits and giggles, GM wants reimbursement for every little thing on their vehicles. So if you wanted the fog lights, then yes a new bumper and fog lights and the harness as well as the switch for them.

Which if the switch is built in to the headlight switch then you would have to get a whole new switch portion, pending on if it is already built into the switch or not

Look at the headlight switch to see if you have foglight icon on it... which i doubt it...

The 900-series had most of the wiring already installed actually. Many vehicles do to allow dealers to install fog lamps on models that don't have them. Peek under the bumper and see if you can see tied or taped off harness plugs. Same for the dash harness for the switch.

Your switch would look like this if it is setup for fogs.

Thanks everyone for the replies. And no my headlight switch doesn't look like that. Does any one know if it would be difficult to swap? Or should I just stick with an aftermarket one?

Get a new stock one to keep the truck looking pretty. No need to start drilling the dash just yet

Yea that's what I think I'm going to end up doing.

The factory foglights are worthless POS. 500 lumens is like some of the flashlights I bought from Costco. The best use I found for them is to use them as a switching circuit for some driving lights. I think the bumper without the foglights looks very clean. The factory foglight installation looks hacked. A large square hole for a round light, mounted in a black plastic bezel. What were they thinkin? What were they smokin? :wtf: Musta been a Friday afternoon, after a hydraulic lunch when they came up with this. If that was the only way these came, the custom truck guys would be welding bumpers up to close up the holes to make them clean. The big rectangular tow hook holes in the lower valance are itching for some foglights.

Yeah the Sierras do look odd in that respect but I like the way my fogs look on my silverado. Fits well with the truck as a rectangular hole and light.

My 08 Silverado had nicely recessed rectangular fogs. Much nicer.

Anyone have the PN for the Sierra fog light housing? Would like to put them in my bumper rather than the blanks
