Finally cleared headlights

Well I finally said its time to get rid of the orange corners so I drank a couple bl's and got to cutting. Really wasn't that bad other than making sure I got it sealed up good. Been on week now and through 2 washes so I will cross my fingers lol. I also tinted my tail light with auto clear mixed with a little black and don't really like the look. It ended up costing me 300 (Denali tails it is). Here's a couple pics:

I could never understand why anybody would want to tint the tail lights as it cuts way down on the light brightness. Bright tail lights are for your safety also and if your hit from behind it wont be the guy hitting you his fault, you will most likely be stopped by the law man. Just something for you to think about.

Depends on the bulb behind it. Mine are dark, but illuminate brighter than stock

I as well especially since it is illegal in Ohio. No matter what you do or how you darken them, it will ALWAYS be darker than if you left them alone especially in 12 o'clock high noon day with no clouds.

Once again, having tinted LED's, they are brightet than stock in any time of day.

Just for the record these tail lights are coming off and denali's going on, but not because of poor light output. Just went a little overboard with the black theme lol...... tail lights forsale guys lol

Well, a while back my shop went to a show discussing automotive trends in the aftermarket segment. Smoking tail lights was the big subject. They were demonstrating different techniques in real time in smoking the lenses along with upgraded LED lights. NONE of the tail lights after the conversion had the same or more light emitting from them. I can't remember what the meter was they were using but it measured out the lumens of the lights. Now, it was stated that for the most part the stop lights were still ample enough to give decent visible light. The biggest problem was with the tail light itself. The tail lights just didn't have enough light to give enough warning in a dusk-lit scenario. Also, my liability insurance prohibits my shop from doing this, even if I have the customer signing a release. This is the same for certain HID conversions but that's another topic lol
