Loud pop coming from front end

It happens occasionally when the weight of the truck shifts to the opposite side, for example sometimes when making a U turn or going around a cul-de-sac. Feels like something is loose up on front, like the front suspension or steering linkage.

I know I need to go get it checked, but I'm wondering if it's common enough for someone here to identify the problem.

Sounds similar to what was happening in my 08 sierra, I would hear a pop when making left hand turns at full lock or close to it. The only thing the stealer did was lube the front end. It seemed to work for a bit but I traded in that truck for my 2012... Good luck..

It is likely the CV joint in the front if it is a 4x4. The boots get ripped allowing in dirt and moisture. Then the joint gets worn and pops when turning. Happened at 80,000 on my 2007 GMT 900.

I especially like it when it pops in the parking lot and everyone turns and looks expecting to see my wheels laid out.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll come back & post when I figure out what the problem was.

not sure but i would check the sway bar link if those are fine then it is the cv joint. i just replaced both my front axles and there are so many less noises out of my front end.

I have the exact same popping noise. Please post if you find solution.

Check the front suspension closely. We have new Tahoe PPV's at work and just had a lower wishbone break right at at the lower ball joint on one of them. We are inspecting every single Tahoe now (over 100). I don't know what suspensions parts are shared, but I have checked my Sierra closely. Our garage told me that GM is coming down to look at it but they haven't had any similar problems.

It does sound like a CV joint though. I had one go on my old F150 and it did the same thing.
