Rattling noises in window?

Here is my culprit:

See the photo. This is the plastic shroud or compartment below the glove box area on the passenger side of the dashboard. Notice my "joe-job" of the sock to temporarily create enough lift and pressure to stop the rattling noise during driving. Notice the area is suspended/affixed by 2 rivets. The sound is replaceable by simply tapping ones fingers on the shroud area and sounds like a rattling or jingling. The sock helps, but I head to Chevy tomorrow.

Hope this helps you-

After about a day at the dealer, they said they added "additional insulation" inside this area and as such the rattling went away. This is great news!

Now onto my seat shifting issue when I turn... new frame for the drivers seat coming in soon.....

my back seat rattles... i know it's my back seat cause when it's empty no rattle. but when i have any weight on the seat like a person of even a back it rattles. i have not taken it to the dealer as i have not had 1 free day (that wasn't a holiday) since i got it... hoepfully they can get this fixed as it is quite annoying as well.

I've had my 2014 LTZ less than a week and noticed this rattle today coming home from work. This is unacceptable for a brand new truck with less than 400 miles. I guess I will have dealer look at it when I go to get my plates but so far very disappointed if this is what I have to look forward to on a almost $50k truck.

I don't have window rattles but man does the back seat do it when i hit bumps in the road lol. My wife's 14 Impala had broken clips in the passenger front holding the wiring harness, and right under the wheel in the little compartment something was rattling so bad i slammed it a few times and hasn't been back in 6000 miles.

Hi Jgill1972,

Congratulations on your new LTZ, I am sorry that you are experiencing a window rattle. I understand that you plan on taking it to the dealer soon, but would you like me to look into your window rattle in the meantime? Go ahead and PM me your VIN and contact information if you would like me to research the problem of contact the dealer on your behalf.

My drivers side window. It's driving me crazy! And I talked to my dealer and he told me they would push the door tighter so the rattle goes away but then I will hear a wind noise. I asked him I'm paying 40k for a truck that rattles?

Maybe it is a NORMAL rattle.

I have a faint rattling noise coming from the driver window area in my 2014 silverado high country, its driving le nuts to say the least and im hoping i can get some advice on what to do here.

I already took it to the dealer but the guy said they fixed it and then as soon as i drove out the dealer, there it was. So its getting really frustrating.

Its seems like its coming from the top of the door panel (where my finger points to in the picture). When i press on it or when I push the window outwards being fully closed, it stops.

My lock rattles on the driver's door. If I hold it, it stops. Now I also have a rattle under the steering column, behind the panel. If I tap it, it sounds like a couple nuts came loose. Seems as though it may be related to the hood release

Simon check the hood release cable. Took mine to dealer they could not find the rattle. It was the metal cable inside rattling against the outer plastic housing. I wire tied it to a wiring harness so it had a slight curve to it. NO MORE FREAKING RATTLE there now if I can find the one in the drivers door I would be a happy camper.

Think I found mine. There is a cable bundle routed behind the dash panel down near the parking brake pedal that has a plastic "guide" to hold the shape of the bundle where it is routed. There is a push fastener on the plastic piece that looks like it is supposed to attach to the frame.

Here is a picture:

It had become unattached and was dangling so going over rough spots in the road it would tap against the frame that it was supposed to be attached to. Hopefully reattaching fixes it or if it comes loose again, zip tie.

Update:

Well that wasn't it BUT I did look into the hood release cable suggested above and low and behold that looks like it may have been the culprit.

There was quite a lot of play so I found some place to temporarily attach the cable to take some of the play out and the rattle was reduced significantly. There is still a little there so I am thinking now there is some play in the cable back behind the dash as well that I just can't get to. Have an appt with the dealer next week so we'll see what they can come up with.

Yeah thats the exact same problem I'm having. Scared to try pulling the panel off to fix it though. I have a knack for breaking clips of all kinds.

Years ago I heard of a tale about a lady was having rattling sounds coming from her driver's side window. She took it to the dealer. Dealer removed door panel and found a small tobacco pouch filled with bolts, nuts and washers hanging freely. Was removed and no more rattling!

This is completely insane... my 2014 rattles all over the place in the interior now and I can't seem to pin any of them down after several attempts. Very disappointing to spend this much money on a new truck with this level of quality. If I wanted to leave it at the dealer for a week, I would have kept my old one! Hell, it was paid for and didn't rattle this much.

I agree with you peterjbrown71 my 2014 as well is a rattle box! Between the rattles, the wind noise in the drivers door and the customer service that you get from GM is a joke to say the least! I have had my truck back at the dealer several times and they still cannot fix my issues. Been in contact with GM customer care as well as their priority care and no one seems to want to help the customer out!
