Are you willing to accept any blemishes on your new truck?

So I just picked up my new 2014 Sierra SLT Crew yesterday. The thing is absolutely awesome and I couldn't be happier. I did find a very small nick (maybe a couple mm long) in the plastic above the driver side ac/heat vent. I can see it, but only because I am extremely particular about everything I own/buy. It's really only noticable when looking at it head on and it disappears if you look at it from an angle. I don't plan on raising a stink over it as in my mind if that's the only issue on a truck of this size they did a pretty good job.

It got me thinking however - what are you willing to accept in terms of blemishes when you pick up your new truck whether on the interior or exterior? Should I actually be expecting EVERYTHING to be absolutely perfect or is that just not realistic?

my thought is... can they possibly screw more up trying to replace/fix the issue... Seems like panels never go back together the right way / clips, etc... I personally dont want anyone to touch my truck unless they have to.

I hear what you're saying... I had a very minor factory issue with the trim inside my truck .... Not bad at all... just enough to bother me.

I told them day 2 and they fixed it. If you think the issue will bother you... TELL THEM RIGHT NOW. dont wait.. as some of these things they can blame on you as time passes.

Just go park at Walmart or the grocery store and wait for the first flying car door to put a door ding into the side, and then you can breathe a sigh of relief (after a few moments of grief) that you can be "relaxed" about where you park forever more :).

So I take it your repair did not involve putting panels back together? Mine defniitely would, which is why I think I'm going to let it go. Already sent my sales guy an email with a picture of it so it's at least on record. I figure that buys me a couple of days or a week if I decide I really want it replaced. I can already imagine the incessant rattling of the new piece if I did....

I looked over my truck really good before I took it off the lot. The only thing I did see was where it looked like a sticker had been placed on the rear door side panel. There was a dark round spot that looked like a sticker had been pulled off. I didn't say anything and figured it would go away once I put some protectant on. It has since gone away. I'm just waiting now for the ones that say I paid $50,000 for my truck and I expect absolute perfection! My 99 Sierra which was a 1st year truck and the 1st one the dealer got in had a dark blue AC vent in a dark gray dash though.

no... mine had to do with the trim around the steering wheel. They had to replace the wheel.

They replaced the wheel and all was good with that. But just as I alway fear.. they screwed something else up in the process. When I left I noticed a clicking sound when turning the wheel. They forgot to seat a retainer clip inside the column.. So... it was another trip and 2 hours at the dealer. This is the sh$t that bothers me the most....

Mine has a dull spot on the fender that can be buffed out. Just made sure they knew about. Going to take it by and let them buff it out. Also noticed a teeny little spec in the paint. The kind that won't buff out. Not going to worry about it. At least point out any defects you find. Then your covered.

My parking assist sensors on my front bumper are already peeling. And no I did not wash my truck with a pressure washer. I will be taking it up there sooner or later to get it replaced because I know the paint will continue to keep peeling.

The cab roof on mine was damaged, I didn't notice it as my inspection of the vehicle did not involve me looking at it. I noticed it 5 min after I left the dealership, I was pulling into the garage and wanted to ensure I cleared the opening. I opened the sunroof, stuck my noggin out the window and there it was. I was livid, called the salesman immediately. Damage was fixed, Dent less repair the next day.
