Where do you find the "invoice" price?

Recommended Posts

Had the dealer configure a 2014 crew cab and he said he would sell it at the invoice price

that was on there. It listed an invoice price for each option and a total.

Ok but that invoice price is way more than when I do it on the NADA website.

Are there any other sites that you guys use for this?

I think in the past I have used the NADA site but it has been 7 years.

Invoice is normally higher then msrp. Here in Alaska it is 3k higher. I paid 2k under msrp for mine which is not bad considering this is a brand new model year. Invoice is whatever the dealer wants to charge but msrp is a good baseline to start from though..

Edmunds is a source too but they make it hard to get to the right place...want to hook you up with a dealer. Invoice is changed from what it used to be. From memory it's about 6-6.5% off MSRP now vs 9-10%. It's been a few years since I priced a GM product so don't know when the change was made. I saw my dealers written pricing on my truck and a new column shows dealer profit..about 3% margin between invoice and cost. On my Denali Dealer profit was about $1500-not a lot of money but they also have other profit (adv. credit, parts incentives, other promotions) so who knows what's fair. Bottom line is your dealer can sit down with you and and price the vehicle and options online and print out actual numbers.

I was shown a document that was called an invoice. It had all options and msrp listed. There was a line item that was labeled 300 and had about the 6.0% discount referenced above. I can buy it for that before rebates. I don't now if that is what is was but seemed like a good deal....

Here are some numbers before the $1500 price increase Oct 1:

MSRP/Invoice/Dealer Cost

4x4 SLT crew short box-43610/40557/39519

4x4 Denali crew short box-49965/46467/44968

Plus shipping

SLT Preferred package-1245/1095/1058

Figure % from these and apply to MSRP will get you very close.

I used CarsDirect.com to form a fair starting point. The dealer I bought from actually ended up beating that. Also remember the dealer is getting a 3% holdback from GM when the truck sells, Don't let them tell you they're "losing money".
