Common on the forums and common in real life are two different things brother Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

It's common enough, trust me. My truck will be back at the dealer as soon as the next coldsnap hits. The way it sounds, they will probably tell me its working properly, despite evidence to the contrary.

08 sierra: Seat was heated on high during the remote start

14 sierra: Seat seems to be "slightly warm" at best during the remote start

Just cause you and 10 others on the fourn have the same issues doesn't mean every dealer is inundated with people with the same complaint. If there's no service bulletin out and you're the first one at that dealership to have complained about it then it's entirely possible their techs haven't had to deal with it yet. I'll bet 85% of the people driving one don't even realize the heated seats are supposed to come on during a remote start cycle. My Dad has a new GMC Acadia and he had no idea until I told him today that his heated seats, heated mirrors, and rear defrosters were supposed to come on when he hits the remote start.

Remember those of us on this form with a K2 represent probably less than 1% of all the trucks GM has sold and even less than that care to take the time to complain about the seats.

My seat is slightly warm with remote start but gets HOT when set on high. I have cloth seats. It's entirely possible that there may have been enough complaints on past models that the seat was too hot when using remote start and that'a why there are only slightly warm, but you would think that in the settings menu you should be able to pick the heat setting you want.

I can appreciate the fact that these forums are a small group compared to the many units GM has sold out there. And your right about the dealership not knowing about this complaint. There are not many of the '14s on the road around here. So this was the first they heard of it, or so they said. But, you know I have looked at other sites and found several post concerining this complaint. So, I am convinced that it is a legitimate issue or maybe my expectations are too high for a mear $51K vehicle. But I don't think so. My 2008 GMC worked great. I have sent a letter to the GMC Customer Assistance Center. I will share their comments if I get a reply.

I think they should be hotter during the remote start just like you but I'm not going to the dealership and complain about it since it literally takes less than a minute to get really warm once I get in. Where I think they dropped the ball is not having the heated steering wheel come on with the remote start.

To be fair I have found that the defrosters do work on the remote start, it is just at a lower level and takes until the second cycle on the remote start to kick in. It is enough to make a difference and partially clear the windshield.

The seats may work too, but it is at a level that makes it hard to tell.

I guess I am spoiled by my wife's Nissan which feels like an oven when you open the door after using the remote start.

I am encouraged by news that GM is working on this issue. It really is a great vehicle and I like it more and more everyday, this is the only annoyance.

Overall GM has done a great job on this truck, This is the first GM product I have ever owned. Pleasantly surprised.

I am sure some smart designer came up with the idea for how the heated seats/steering wheel work. We got 8 inches of snow over the last few days and the remote start works great with defroster and warming up the inside. My 13 Ford Explorer had the same heated seats and steering wheel and after 10 mins of running it was toasty warm. Who knows maybe our GM trucks are built this way to save gas or something! lol.... Still love this truck and like the way it drives and looks.....Will see next year when Ford comes out with the new F150 how it compares...

I agree the truck is a beauty. I get compliments all the time on its looks. It drives nice and it is quiet, I really like it. If I lived in a warmer climate the seat thing wouldn't be a big anoyance to me. But darn it, I sure hope they come up with a fix. It sure would be nice to have a warm seat waiting when it is 16F outside.

I wasn't thrilled with my remote start heat up, but realized the vents were still closed...once I opened those up it works great... I also turn the heat way up before getting out, maybe that helps.

It does an OK job getting the snow off the windshield, but not nearly as good as my '07 Yukon did

My seats - they aren't nearly as warm getting after remote start, but they are warm and are TOASTY within a half a minute of getting in - this is even in the 15f below mornings we've had lately. When they get going they are hot, even the wife gets too hot with them - which is astounding.

Regardless, running the remote start once and I can have it feeling like a sauna.

Got a call from a regional customer service specialist. He was clueless about the remote start/heated seats and gave me some irrevalent canned lip service about it. I think he finally realized he was just blowing smoke and did promise to look in to it and be back in touch. That was just before the Christmas Holiday. I haven't heard a thing since. I am hoping I will hear from him soon. He did log it and issued a ticket number for the complaint.

On another note, I got a call from the dealership about a recall on the rear electric window. Suppose to bring it in once they get the parts for the fix.

i no it was posted before but ,

the heated seats are set to come on with the remote start

here is the dilema

when i start the truck with the remote ,and enter the truck and turn the key

all the lights come on as needed except the seats and they are cold

i have to manually bust the buttons for the seats

what am i missing?

    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
