Yeah, I have a 2002 extended cab with the 8 foot box and love it. It is a long truck and can be hard to park at times, but love the utility. I am just glad that the longer 6.5 box is available on the crew cabs now as this makes the pain of giving up my full-size box that much easier. I couldn't deal with the 5.5 box.

Correct. You can still get the 8ft bed in the regular cab though. When you really think about though, the 6.5' bed will be more than enough 90% of the time and for the remaining 10% you can probably make it work. You always have the regular cab option if you really need the extra length though.

Just another step in the continuing trend of less choice for the consumer. A less than 8' bed would be worthless to me. I hope my 2011 lasts a long time.

Actually, you mean to say that the 6.5' bed is standard on all the double cabs. The 6.5' bed is available in all cab configurations, though.

My first truck had the 8' and now I'm on my 2nd 6.5' and I still curse and hate the 6.5' beds. I know I shouldn't complain since they have been hand me downs but yeah. Even if I didn't have a hard top on the bed I'd still be borrowing dad's 8' anytime I needed to move someone or anything. It's all psychological but I never claimed to be rational.
