wheel spin?

My 2013 has had a few episodes now---once last year, couple times this year---where, putting it into park causes a horrible grinding noise. Turns out, the rear wheel is spinning away on ice despite the brakes being applied and the truck not moving.

I've taken it to the dealer this morning and they say nothing wrong---their standard answer.

They recommend a brake service which is costing me 150 bucks---on a warranteed truck with 16000 km!!

What??

So . . .I've ok'd the service as I don't really have a choice--there is something wrong. But I don't agree that I should be paying for this service---isn't there something faulty that would be causing this issue?

Maybe I should cancel it and bring it home . .. hmmmm.

I can usually tell when mine is spinning (but I grew up in the snow country), and it does tend to require some extra pedal pressure to stop it.

 

I attribute it to the fact that most vehicles have less biasing to the rear brakes in order to prevent lockup during hard braking.

 

As far as your servicing goes, I do not have any suggestion...they should inspect it for a problem, but it should not need replacement brakes at 16000 km...I have almost 36k miles on mine and the brakes look practically new.

You can get the wheels to stop? I couldn't and the brake was to the floor . . . but then, I was kind of freaked too, lol, spotting it spinning away in the mirror. They aren't replacing the brakes, just "servicing" them. I think they should be looking, spotting any problems and that's it. Why should I pay for a servicing--then they try to tell me they should be serviced every year. I have never, ever serviced my brakes. Replaced, yes, when they've reached a reasonable age. Serviced no, and I've never had a problem. I should have said no . . .arrgh.
