Supercharger

I have a 2000 model with a 5.3L engine. What would be the most reasonable supercharger for this engine? I need pulling power, and I don't want to buy another truck.

A 6.0 swap will be chesper and help quite a bit.

Either Edelbrock or Vortech will work just fine.

Several things to note due to the age of your truck:

- verify that the motor is in good mechanical condition

- replace all the small stuff (lifters, rockers, valve springs) if they show any wear - heck at least replace the valve springs.

- check all the main bearings and camshaft

- most importantly, dont skimp on the head inspection and seals.....

probably looking at 10K out the door if you have a shop do it (which I recommend if you have never installed one)

I have mainly seen magnacharger type on the trucks on the web. I personally owned a ATI Procharger setup that I put on my 1995 Camaro and I put about 100k on the setup. So for me I would go with a Prochager setup.

I am still running the 60e. I tow a 10k pound trailer for a yearly trip. Either way you go you "should" do something about the trans. Maybe just a rebuild ans shift kit. I just replaced the 1-2 servo with one from a vette and a year later still havent blown it apart

Corvette servos don't do much other than make it shift harder it isn't really considered an "upgrade" just something you can do and the name sounds cool.

I would consider this an upgrade, less slip during a shift...better than stock=upgrade

I've had numerous trans builders tell me otherwise but to each their own I guess.

And I didnt say do it or not do it. I said rebuild and shift kit. Just mentioned I had the servo and 20k miles with a 6.0 and nothing has blown apart with 138k on the trans

Whipple.

Completely shitty customer service

I personally don't get this. FI/tranny (cuz it'll never hold) set up would be worth more than the truck at this point...

My point is you could make a hefty down payment for a new truck. If you could afford this set up you can afford a new(er) 3/4 ton gasser...

They aren't far from me, and getting answers for technical questions to compare when I was shopping was a pain. Basically their answer for everything was "it's better because it's bigger"
