2500HD 6.0 Cold Start

I had the tick when I was running Mobil 1, but its gone away (at least I don't notice it) since I changed oil brands. The oil I'm using is a little thicker viscosity for the 5w30 range. Might be worth changing oil brands, maybe do a little research on the thicker 5w30s?

 

As far as the hum, could it be the engine cooling fan engaging? Mine does that almost every time I start it...and more so in cold temperatures.

Still have the tick tick tick most noticeable when the truck is warming up from a cold start.

 

It's amazing that you need to hold these GM techs hands. There is no way they didn't hear this noise. I know I'm not stupid and I can hear it. Now I need to waste more time getting down there with the truck. Awesome

For fun check out the exhaust manifold bolts. See if any heads have snapped off.

The drivers side against firewall..... On cold starts that how i noticed my tick and that was my warranty fix.
