most all-round power for 350

I have someone (second cousin) who can help me rebuild a stock 350 into a racing engine pretty much but street legal and still be able to pull everything around

(last motor this guy built was put into a truck for an eve of destruction event for the trailer races and he pulled around another truck on his trailer when it got stuck everytime the guy would hammer it the guy in the other truck would get thrown back in the seat until the radiator got a hole)

so any suggestions on quality parts that won't break because I have to pay for part and just help him out when he asks for it

Wouldn't it make more sense to ask the guy that's going to build the motor what he thinks first?

"racing engine pretty much but street legal" tells us next to nothing about what you have or what you want to do.

I don't mean to be harsh, but given that you were referring to a TBI system as a "carb" in another thread, I get the feeling that you don't have a very solid understanding of modern small block engines. It would probably make sense for you to learn a bit more about these engines. After that you would have the ability to ask educated specific questions, and folks might be able to help.

Right now you sound like a kid pipe dreaming on the internet and it's not likely anyone is going to put much time into this question.

sorry that I grew up around carbs and rebuilding them with family for race cars I wanted an engine with a carb but got this and didn't know what to call it he said I had to pick out the parts and he would help with buying them I didn't have to deal with fuel injection until I got a car and now my truck and he can help make it the best possible street legal 350 with a carb so for being 17 I know almost nothing about the modern stuff and WAY to much about the old things

only thing that comment has going is my step dad makes it look like a compliment with the way he yells at me for wanting to work on cars and I'm not being sarcastic that's the worst part

Not trying to yell at you or be a jerk toward you. I'm trying to help you ask questions that will get answers.

I understand that its just in trying to learn on auto fuel injection systems because I learned carbs from age 7 or 8 and my mom won't let me get the things I can work on without the electronics I'm stuck with it until I get a different engine to I thought about a 6.0 swap but I think help from my cousin would be easier to go to a carbureted 350 so I'm just going to rephrase my question

What brand its the most durable when buying parts for a 350 and will still be street legal

Ummm...... okay with the street legal thing...... keep exhaust on it and it's street legal. It doesn't matter how much power it has... or in this case doesn't have. Emission and EPA crap wise in your part of the world a carb in a 95 truck wouldn't be legal no matter how you look at it. An LS swap would be great..... but honestly at your level...... no. Just buy a truck with one in it if that is what you wanted.

Figure out what you want first for as far as power goes. Your heads are garbage..... the manifold is garbage....... the bottom end is a 2 bolt main 1 piece block with a flat tappet cam in it that may be roller compatible and may not..... A basic Vortec 350 is a good starting point for most guys. Roller cam and good heads. All in what you want to do.

I'm going with a carb and I'm aiming for 425 horsepower at the tires and I can get do carb in Wisconsin legally cause we don't have emissions checks due yearly

That number will run quite a bit of cash with a 350.

cause its to commonly done and for me it's either a 350 or a big block cause I have help in many ways but they're only there to mentor me and show what i have to do then they make me finish

and I don't have $4100 just sitting around

Thats going to put him about 325 to the wheels.

i prefer the builds that last a while as they're built makes sure everything is in place and how you want it as you save instead of buying a new motor to have to work the bugs out

Without forced induction, more displacement, complete high rev build to make power, its going to be difficult to hit your goal. My tuned 6.0 makes only 325 to the wheels but it is an LS

Rebuilding a 350 all together so please don't be insulting to me I know whats possible and what's not and 425 is possible

if a fully built 327 can do about that a 350 can do more
