Getting a new Truck from GM

So I have my truck in the shop for the second time getting a new seat frame and replacing seat trim the technician broke the first go around. Along with this, the truck squeeks when you are coasting and accelerate from around 20-30 mph. Got a call today from the dealership that the tech did not have a clue what was going on and maybe I would just have to wait and see. I refused to pick the truck up and said I would not drive it around squeeking. The service advisor is now supposedly working to get the issue brought up with GM technical assistance.

For those of you that have been able to cause enough disturbance to receive a new truck, what did you go through? Lemon law, etc? I am tired of having my truck sitting in the shop and driving a stripped down loaner...

Thanks for any advice

I had my 2013 replaced that is why I'm in a 14 now. Mine was an engine problem. I will tell you that the process was not as bad as it may seem but it takes a long time. I had to order a new truck when they decided to replace mine so that was the longest part but the paperwork took a long time to catch up as well. I ordered my new truck on May 6 the new one was scheduled for arrival in August gm engineering took that one in transit so they ordered another, you can imagine I was getting frustrated. The new one finally arrived at the dealer first part of sept and I was not able to pick it up until October 11 due to waiting for the paperwork to come through.

I will say that GM was great about it. They replaced all of my accessories because they would not fit on the new body style. This included running boards mud flaps and aftermarket bak flip tonneau cover which I did not purchase through the dealer ( they replaced with a dealer installed fold a cover which I like better)

The big thing is your service manager has to be on board they are the key. He was great and the one that started the ball rolling. He made a call and I was contacted by a gm rep in Rhode Island, I live in CT, who told me to go and order a new truck. He called the dealer and I ordered my new 14, primarily because they had stopped making the 13 by the time this happened and there were none around like mine so I really lucked out.

This is getting long so if you want pm me and maybe we can make contact so I can give you more info.

I am getting a new GMC1500.

I hope none of these things occur with my truck. specially that sh^ty mpg some are talking about. I'd hate to leave a Dodge 2500 hemi that I can squeak 21mpg out of on the highway for a light duty truck that gets 15, I hope I get 22 keeping up with traffic.

Anyway.. I 'd be embarrassed to tell the world I wouldn't drive a truck because it had a squeak

good luck getting the truck replaced, the world has gone crazy if you get it.

Try sitting in traffic five days a week, 25 miles each way, constantly hearing that annoying noise every time you press the gas. Not embarrassed one bit here

When I dropped the truck off I suggested they check the exhaust valve and they noted it. Now, magically I get a call back and it is the valve. New exhaust ordered so I will have to take the truck BACK to the dealership next week.

the critical, GM fanboys strike again..... Get a life. The lemon law, at least here, is based on days without useage not the severity of the issue. 30 days in the shop or 3 separate visits for the same problem qualifies you. I'm sorry but if you spend 20, 30, 40, 50k Plus on a Vehicle you deserve it to be perfect. and as stated, the lemon law process is frustrating and time consuming. I'm currently stuck driving a Fiat 500 while my truck is in the shop overnight. If I was in that car for a significant amount of time over an issue not getting fixed over and over again you better be damn sure I would be looking into it. he paid for a particular truck that is guaranteed. he deserves what he paid for.

Well I hope to get it finally fixed but we will see. Instead of replacing the seat frame again the tech supposedly found a lose rivet or something along those likes and fixed it. If it goes again for the seat I will definitely start the process and work towards a replacement. Maybe white just wasn't my lucky color. Cool picture attached...McLaren

First then you need to do is research the lemon law for the state you bought the vehicle in. Each state is different but most require you send a letter to GM telling them they have one more chance to fix the vehicle.

How is the new truck coming along? I see it had been a few months now. I hope everything was straightened out. I have had mine for 2 months now and the only problem I have had was that the steering colum was not tightened in the right way so the wheel was slightly cocked clockwise when the truck was going straight and I had a brake light go out. Spent an hour at the dealer and they had the steering column fixed. Let them do the tailight too so it would be free and plus hell, it was there anyway so why not let them do it while I relax and enjoy some of the snacks and beverages that part of my 50K I bought the truck for went to.

It took GM 2 weeks to "take on a trade" of my first 14 LTZ. In return I got a 14 LTZ NHT 5.3 with 7k more on the sticker, with 250$ in customer cash, and I pay 5$ less a month than before. I'm a pretty happy camper. The reason was that the truck lost power steering, and all brake function twice this winter. It almost killed my family once, I took the truck to the dealership the next day, and the GM rep had told my dealership to find a replacement immediately, on that same day. I spent a week and a half trying to find a truck I wanted, because at this point they had stopped installing the rear slider and that was on of the main reasons for getting the LTZ in the first place, so we settled on a pretty fair trade off.

Typical nit picker, grow up. Want to start a lemon law over a silly little issue? There are 20k parts on these things, there are bound to be little nuances here and there (we are human). A plastic sqeak or rattle from the interior can be fixed, no big deal. As long as they keep trying then relax and let them do their job, it isn't a driveability issue. People these days complain about the smallest issues. If it were me, the lemon law would only be for major issues. Axle fails, engine problems, brakes issues, ect. Interior squeak? GIve me a break. People feel so entitled these days it's laughable and they are never satisfied; those type of people can usally be spotted by listing the price in their complaint as justification. News flash, it is a pickup truck that a college kid can afford (living on ramen noodles but can get a lease or get a 72 month loan for).

People like you are the reason why all these big companies think they can get away with putting out subpar products and letting us as a consumer test them out. If you pay $50,000 for truck there should not be one thing wrong with that truck. These companies have been building trucks for almost 100 years if they can't get that crap right by now then they have some serious problems.

AMXGUY1970 sounds like he works at a dealership and hates people who want their truck fixed
