planted bad reviews?

I have been seeing a lot of negative posts from new accounts with very little posts. If you look at some of these accounts' posts, they are all negative.

What is the possibility that the rash of negative posts lately are planted? just a thought....

To clarify: I am not saying ALL of them, but I suspect that a few of them could be.

So what you are saying is that new users with very few posts, are posting negative comments, are planted? Please clarify?

Every forum I've ever belonged to had "trolls". The internet for some is a place to be anyone they want. It is what it is. I for one take things for face value, and agree with the OP. Not to point fingers, but there are a few potstirrer.gif on the forum.

Regardless if they are trolls; the small hand full that are having problems (which some have legit problems), are the ones who are the loudest. These guys are the ones posting on every single post, complaining and bad mouthing the truck and GM. It makes it seem that there are more people than what it seems having issues..

I'm just sick of seeing the posts; "glad I found this site, I'm not buying my truck now". Really, let's listen to the internet and the few who are having problems to decide your vehicle purchase. I just want to lmao with these type of people.

My truck is perfect. It's my first GM vehicle and I'm glad I got it.

All car forums are this way. Either it's full of fanboys or negative Nancy's. You want a laugh, go over to TacomaWorld and read all the Homer posts and flaming on everyone who talks about other manufacturers trucks. GM sells a lot of trucks, I doubt these forums deter people in droves. To be honest, all the complaints here isn't what has been keeping me from buying a new truck. I'm holding out for the perfect deal since I don't "really" need a new truck. My Tacoma does 95% of what I need, I just want all the luxurious items and cabin space that isn't offered in a Tacoma.

I traded my 2013 Tacoma in on my GMC. I know all about tacomaworld.com. Rusty frames, vibration in the steering wheel, 4x4 going out, compass/out side temp indicator taking a dump, poor paint, etc.

When I had my 2011 5.0 Mustang, the mustang forums had #8 piston blowing apart, ac going out, faulty control arms, crappy manual transmission, faulty air bag sensors, rear end whine, etc.

It's everywhere, which is why I laugh at people thinking buying a different truck from another manufacture is the cure.

I take everyone's input with a grain of salt, and if it's something I can live with. Knock on wood, I've never had a car leave me stranded. Also, I've never owned a car I would consider a lemon and neither have my parents. IMO if people do their research and do a thorough test drive, they'll be happy with their purchases.

Like I have said before if you go to the internet and get on forums either Chevy, Ford, Dodge etc and listen to them you would never own a vehicle. All vehicles have there problems. I like the people that spend 60+ grand on a truck and think nothing should happen to it because the money they paid for it but don't think its the same vehicle that cost 25 grand base vehicle but with more add-ons.

I'm a legitimate owner that's had legitimate issues...

I like to think that if I have an issue that shouldn't be an issue, posting it on here might help someone else avoid the issue.

For example, my Goodyear SR-A tires that are stuck on an All Terrain package and marketed as All Terrain tires are pure crap. If I can make that known, maybe GM won't put those tires on anymore, but at the very least someone might read that and swap tires before they put any miles & depreciation on them.

I know of at least one person who's said they're swapping tires because of what they've read...I feel good about that.

In capitalism, the market has a voice...

Better question...why does it bother you that people complain/vent about their issues? Does it make your truck less nice to you? Does it hurt the image you have of yourself driving around in that truck?

    • No I didn’t watch a video of a person who analyzes oil for a living explain general oil usage. For clarity I did ask my brothers one who runs our equipment business. The other who runs our old ROW business about oil usage. Nothing has changed since I retired. Their personal vehicles or work vehicles use no oil. Not enough to see on the oil checking device. Then I pondered. I like to ponder. In this extended oil changing world with oil change countdowns or lights. If engines used say a qt every 2500 miles or up to even 4000 miles. With oil changes reaching as high as 15000 miles. Normal for most people is eight to ten. Vehicles should potentially be seizing up all over the place. Especially in hilly terrain. Just how many people actually check their oil? Maybe 10 percent. Those are the people that probably change their oil early. I like to research used car listings. I have five favorite dealers I check. They all list carfax with their listing. It’s rare to see vehicles with anything but extended oil changes. Transmission service, forget about it. I’ve seen Honda and Toyota certified vehicles up to 100K miles and ten years old. With nothing but normal maintenance. Isn’t nice we all have different experiences and believe our way is the best. You certainly get backup for whatever you believe. Life would be boring otherwise.
    • Interesting rumor. Dealers near me have been tight-lipped so far, but if this reveal actually happens next week, I'm really hoping they finally give the HD a proper interior overhaul. The competition has been eating their lunch in the cabin department for a while now.
    • There are a few good takeaways in that video that pertain to this thread, certainly the possibility of the oil control rings having buildup, the fuel injectors and how clean or not that they are ending up affecting the pistons rings carbon buildup, and the fact that its normal up to a point for a given engine to use some oil, and that the oil quality that is being utilized is part of that ring clogging up issue as well.   I was talking with a neighbor yesterday who has a baby LZ0 duramax and he had bought it slightly used but it does consume some oil and he has switched over to 5W-30 Euro spec oil and in this case that never made a difference in consumption over the factory 0W-20 recommendation. He finds it uses a quart in about 3500 miles and as he goes a ways over that distance he adds oil to full and goes another 1000 miles or so and then changes oil and is typically at 40% or so left on the oil monitor at that point with his use case of quite a lot of highway miles and more limited in short run use. I don't know what other LZ0 engines are doing for oil consumption but that is what his is doing.
    • I dont care what Lake says. Goodnight.
    • Ok well I guess Lake disagrees with me on a few points. I call oil consumption pretty basic. Rudimentary. He calls it "really complicated." I think 1qt consumed in 3k miles is a lot. He says that's normal. In 22 minutes, he'll use his natural talent to explain oil consumption to anyone watching this video. He covers everything from obvious engine damage to how normally functioning healthy engines consume oil by design. Lake explicitly states how you drive will impact oil consumption.   Shut up and watch:
