planted bad reviews?

A lot of comments are planted... and don't think competing manufacturers don't pay people to do this.

What would be the point of a forum if nobody had an issues to discuss? I like what JC said, should you really be concerned if people are complaining about their trucks? Does it make you regret your purchase? As I mentioned before, people will still buy these trucks regardless of what we say on these forums. If not, well then I will wait for the big time GM rebates. :)

All car forums are this way. Either it's full of fanboys or negative Nancy's. You want a laugh, go over to TacomaWorld and read all the Homer posts and flaming on everyone who talks about other manufacturers trucks. GM sells a lot of trucks, I doubt these forums deter people in droves. To be honest, all the complaints here isn't what has been keeping me from buying a new truck. I'm holding out for the perfect deal since I don't "really" need a new truck. My Tacoma does 95% of what I need, I just want all the luxurious items and cabin space that isn't offered in a Tacoma.

C'mon man! My 2011 Tacoma did about 100% of what I needed. But I didn't love it, and I LOVE my new Silverado. I had a short period of regret (between 9:32:26 AM and 9:32:27 on the morning of December 1st but I got over it! So go ahead and do the irresponsible thing and make yourself Happy Happy Happy! And there are some great deals out there.

I did manage to justify the purchase to my wife by selling my Tacoma on Craigslist first. Then what choice did I have? (By the way, I had my first call within 15 minutes and it was sold within 30 minutes).

I'm a legitimate owner that's had legitimate issues...

I like to think that if I have an issue that shouldn't be an issue, posting it on here might help someone else avoid the issue.

For example, my Goodyear SR-A tires that are stuck on an All Terrain package and marketed as All Terrain tires are pure crap. If I can make that known, maybe GM won't put those tires on anymore, but at the very least someone might read that and swap tires before they put any miles & depreciation on them.

I know of at least one person who's said they're swapping tires because of what they've read...I feel good about that.

In capitalism, the market has a voice...

Better question...why does it bother you that people complain/vent about their issues? Does it make your truck less nice to you? Does it hurt the image you have of yourself driving around in that truck?

No it's a little bit annoying though for the vast majority of people w/ no issues trying to weed through all the negative crap to simply find out info/mods/maintenance stuff on their new vehicle.

Oh and in regards to your tires- don't worry bud GM is fully aware the Goodyear SRAs are crap tires, that's why they put them on there, keep costs down ya feel me? They're not so bad they need to be swapped out, just wear them out and put new ones on when the time comes.

It's not hard to figure which posts are negative. I'm gone through plenty of posts looking for info/mods/etc and haven't had any trouble finding them.

I'm sure GM is fully aware of how crappy the tires are, but they aren't marketing them as crappy tires. I was told they were decent tires up front, but since it took actually driving on them (depreciating) to find out they're crap, swapping them out becomes an expensive prospect. As far as I'm concerned, if it were summer, I'd wear the tires out, but it's winter and traction is a safety issue...its one thing to keep costs down, its another to cut corners.

Had they not tried to save $200 on the sticker and put on decent tires to start with, I wouldn't be complaining on here...if everyone who's unhappy with the tires posted on here/elsewhere maybe GM wouldn't put on crappy tires anymore :dunno:

And like I said, there's at least one person on here who said that negative reviews of the tires convinced him to swap out the SRA's for better tires when taking delivery...that will save him a couple hundred or more...so he's benefited from negative reviews.

Again, it all comes down to the market having a voice.

Just depends...I have an AT...and love the stock tires. Yes they suck off road... but quiet. As i get older...quiet is what I want. Can't get best of both worlds....if they grip worth a sh&t your getting noise.

Not sure what tires you have but I have the Bridgestone's and they are quiet and grip just fine for me.

IMO.. maybe 10% might be planted/sponsored complaints. Forum members make up such a small group of the total truck sales market, so the costs v/s rewards just don't make sense.

A lot of complaints might be based on legitimate complaints but come off as ridiculous or staged b/c of the author's ignorance and/or immaturity.

I don't have a problem with people discussing their issues. In fact, your issues with the Goodyear SR-A is a perfect example. I had a nissan Titan in the past that vibrated like a pea sheller. After multiple trips to the dealer it was discovered that the Goodyear SR-A was the problem. My local Goodyear store will NOT sell them because they are crap.

We spread the word about the Goodyear SR-A on titan talk and others were able to fix their issue (some had other issues with the drive train as well)….

Lol, I am throwing caution to the wind....the Tacoma is up on CL...hopefully someone buys soon, and I've found my truck...all the way in Arkansas. This is a bad time of year to be a private seller with the Holidays. If only a dealer here in Colorado had what I wanted, I'd be bitching about my squeaky seats and driveline vibrations...lol

I wouldn't really day they are "planted" bad reviews. I love my new Silverado. The drivers seat does pop and move while driving. But so did my 2012 Tacoma that I got rid of. And you know it's just not that big of a deal. I'll have the dealer check it on the first service. It's not worth huffing and puffing over it and running straight down to the dealer. There's bigger things to worry about in life. I have a warranty and YES this is a brand new model run. YES it will have problems. I accepted that before I made the purchase. I have a 2007 Tahoe and good Lord that thing has been in the shop more than any other vehicle I have ever owned. But you know what, GM has fixed it every time.

My point, some people are going to gripe about anything they can, anytime they can no matter how minuscule the problem.

I've never expected good stock tires on any car I've bought. My Tacoma came with BFG Rugged Trails.....many people call the Rugged Fails. I never rotated them and the lasted 32,000. If I work out the deal on the Silverado I'm looking at, I get a $500 Costco Cash Card which will promptly go towards a new set of Michelin MS2's

Good luck with your sale! And hopefully early in the New Year you'll find something to whine about. I hear the glove box lock feels cheap. I'll wait for your post.

I think a lot of the complaints on this forum are that different people have different opinions of what is good or not so good. For example some say the Goodyear SR A tires are crap. I have two trucks with these same tires and both ride quiet, and ride and drive smooth with no vibration, so I think they are fine for me. Some people say the Bose radio system sucks but I like it. Some complain about the FM radio system. Both of mine work great for me but I live in a Metro area where reception is good. Both of my trucks have been perfect so far. But if someone says that the power sliding back window broke and the dealer does not have a fix for it, then I think that is a legitimate complaint. But just because that window broke and if a Gm dealership fixes it correctly, then that does not mean the truck is trash because it broke in the first place..... just my opinion.
