I think when I did my Blackbear it was $600 upfront, or something like that. $300 for the tune, and $300 for the scanner deposit. You get the $300 back after you install the new tune and do a relearn with the scanner and send it back. Basically they charge the $300 extra bucks so people don't run off with their equipment. Send the people at Blackbear an email, they are helpful and will detail how they do business. Here is a link to their services. I think I did a "Scan Cable Tune." At the time I did both my Dads 2007 Suburban and my 2002 Silverado.

• You'll submit a security deposit to cover the cost of the scan

  cable hardware, amounting to either $250 or $400, depending on what type

  of vehicle you have. This deposit is fully refundable when returned in

  a timely manner.

   

• Using a Windows-based laptop (not provided), you'll follow

  our detailed instructions to collect one or more log files from the

  vehicle while driving.

   

• Those files will be sent in to us by email to be reviewed.

  If all is well, we will provide an order form to complete to purchase

  the tune. If any correction or clarification is needed, we'll provide

  direction as to what else we need to see.

   

• Tuned computer or computers will be mailed to you to be

  installed. Using the scan cable, you'll be able to link the new

  computer(s) to the vehicle and perform a follow-up log file. We'll

  review that log to ensure that all is operating as it should be.

   

• The scan cable and factory computer(s) (if desired) are returned to us for a refund of the core charge.

They do not put the tune in the autocal.

 

You do a data log once you get the autocal.

 

Email log to Blackbear

 

They email you tune

 

Load tune onto autocal (via PC)

 

Load tune into truck via autocal

Yes it is a handheld. You data log with it. Email the file to him he emails you the tune, you load it on the device and upload to the truck

When I had my autocal for my 2012, I had to have a computer. They wanted me to run some full throttle test and some normal driving conditions with my autocal plugged in. Then I would download the info to my computer. I would then email the stock files to blackbear. They would then tune those files for my engine and trans. Send them back via email. I would upload to autocal via computer then upload into truck. If they have a new way of doing this that would be great. But the benefits of having a computer was so that I can keep my stock files on hand along with all my modified files so that I could change when needed.

Why not just get an OEM take off muffler for a small price, just above recycle value. Your dealer should be able to help out.

They only sell the exhaust as a kit. They don't sell just the muffler...

Check the marketplace on this site. Someone may have an oem muffler for sale. Or post a wanted ad here for an oem muffler. I'm sure someone would hook u up.

Let's say I do find a muffler. What about the original flapper valve thing? Also, what about the resonator that comes factory with the truck.. Won't I need all those components to make it back the way it was? Throwing the factory muffler back on without all those other parts listed couldn't get me back to where I want it to be will it?

I wonder what those muffler shops do with the almost brand new equipment when they take it off? Do they send the mufflers/valves, pipes to a salvage yard? You might check with whoever did yours. Maybe they could be on the lookout if ever they do another '14. Worth a try. Good luck.

Would having one of these places install a resonator before the muffler help drone ? That's what Midas said would work
