selling my 2014 GMC All Terrain...this was the offer

thought some people may be interested in what is being offered by carmax and dealerships on the 2014.

I Needed to do a quick sell. Short story is i'm leaving to go out of the country in less than two weeks for a year and thought it would be good to not have the note of a vehicle while i am gone.

For a quick sell i figured i had two options: Carmax or the dealership.

Saturday i decided to go see what they could offer.

The truck

2014 GMC Sierra SLT All Terrain with sunroof, bedrug and Retrax Pro, weathertech floormats front and back, and a lock r down safe in console

less than 2500 miles

MSRP 50315 (I think, maybe it was 49315)

Paid 46000 even (no rebates at the time)

First stop Carmax and their offer of $39000

Second stop dealership. Same exact offer of $39000, which was kind of shocking considering i had always heard carmax always beats dealership prices and usually substantially.

damn near the payoff, and with the warranty a little over payoff. I think i'll be taking it in and doing the deal. The truck would be sitting for a year and i'm sure depreciating...this way i can be out of the note, have more money to maybe tour around the country while there and then get a new truck when i return.

If you want to have it when you get back I'd be happy to drive it for you while you're gone.

If you'd want the accessories to go to a good home, I'll pay for shipping and take nice care of them. :D

lol...it does make a person wonder how much the accessories affected their offer

From my experience, accessories only make the vehicle more or less desirable for purchase. They typically don't add value. I tend to remove the easy accessories and sell them outright (or give them to a friend or friendly forum member *nudge*). :)

Joking aside, if you can remove them without leaving behind evidence they were there in the first place.. I'd do it.. and sell them separately (time permitting).

before taking the truck in for an offer it did cross my mind, but decided to just leave them and let them give an offer. I really hate to get rid of the truck, but it is the best thing to do at this time. With the rebates being offered at the time i'm actually surprised the offer was as high as it was.

Definitely sell the mats and the safe, the retrax pro and bedrug may have impacted the offer but I'm gonna be surprised if they noticed the mats/safe. Couple extra bucks in your pocket for spending money and not much work

No. They only came off right at 4k. Which at the time was all any dealers were...or right around it. No rebates. I bought not long after they came out.

Love the lock r down. Not sure hiw other models are but this one you taje out tge rubber bottom of your console and take out the, I think it was, 4 bolts. The safe sets down and bolts right in. Just have to pop the light out a bit and the folder holders and tgen put them back. I recommend it highly. Its a great peace of mind when I valet park and keep my pistol in it...not to mention anything else of value

You are getting the depreciation priced in. Park it and have someone drive here and there.

Take the dough- interest will cost you more than 4k- (life isnt fair but this aint a bad deal)

if you have a extended warranty you purchased, you can call them and cancel it. they will send you a refund. Many people do not realize that when they total and sell cars. while some are transferable you are not obligated and the dealer is going to try to sell another one to the new owner so they can get their spiff bonus.

Agree, not too bad.
