service 4x4 on DIC

ok so as i am driving today i get the service 4x4 on the dash. Only there was no code stored when i got home to read it. Anyone have info on this, thanx.

There is a code, just not one stored where common scan tools will read it. You need an enhanced scan tool able to pull subsystem codes. Time to visit a shop.

From what I've seen, 95% of the time the problem is the 4x4 switch itself. Hate to advise throwing parts at it ... but better than paying $100/hr. only to find out it's a $75 switch ...

I think my new switch was $40 or something on Amazon. The lights in the old one would randomly be off sometimes. So when I threw the code I started there, the lights not working right I figured the switch was a POS. That fixed it.

 

If you scan the TCCM it will tell you for sure.
