I can't help but wonder if the people who passed micro-stamping had possibly thought this might happen. My guess is they planed on it.

It'll only hurt the honest guys like us. Only in the movies do the bad guys have a $1000 Sig or 1911. Realistically they usually have some no-name throwaway gun. I read once that one of the most commonly seized handgun calibers from crimes was .38 Special. Lotta good microstamping will do on a wheel gun.

I think even a dumb crook could easily sand the stamp off the end of a firing pin. Of course the article I read said the firing pin would stamp the bullet!

Interesting. I didn't look to see what was still legal I just remember reading articles a few years ago where they said they would no longer sell to state agencies or offer support if their products was banned. I guess my thinking they pulled completely out of that place was wrong. That's what I get for not looking into it further.

Yes it would actually stamp the primer. I thought the fired case included with the sale to be registered by the state was for the same useless purpose. But I guess if you are doing useless things, there is never enough.
