Here is an easy way to do it.

Take apart the light switch. In one corner of the housing half, there is a small spring. Take that spring out, it's the return spring for the rotary switch when it's turned counter clock wise to turn off DRL and auto headlight. Put everything back carefully, there are tiny parts everywhere and make sure the switch position retainer is positioned correctly. Pay attention to the tiny pin for the dimmer switch.

Now when the switch is rotated CCW, it will not return to auto. The DRL and automatic headlight will stay turned off until the switch is turned clockwise.

I tried this, DRL still stays on when it is at the off position. I tried it and saw my LED DRL reflecting back on the back of another car.

This mod DOES NOT WORK, at least for Canadian variants

Keeper, I messaged him and he said no it does not turn the drls on with blinker. I'm guessing the parking light is the bottom set of Amber side markers, and the top pair of Amber side markers are the blinker set.

I'm out of town or I'd of went outside and looked.

THANKS to all who finally figured this out!!!!! I started the original post a got hammered quite a bit over "safety issues". I didn't ask about "safety issues" I just wanted to know how to keep the damn things from coming on!! As soon as I get time I'm gonna go get what I need and go for it!

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm actually going to keep the drl function but using led strips instead of low beams... I have 1 relay I can use for both sides if in fact the won't blink with the turn signals. If they do, I can run a 5 pin really for each side and the strips will blink off when the signal is on and it only blink with whatever signal is used

Sounds cool, I know baking said he used only one relay at first for both lights but it got alittle hot. So he ended up using one relay per headlight

I was going to go ahead and do the delete tomorrow but I just got home from vacation and my truck was at the dealership getting some stuff done while I was gone and they closed 45 minutes ago. So I have to wait till Monday to get it back!! Sucks

I was going to go ahead and do it car keeper had me wondering about the blinker question. Baking said it doesn't make the DRLs come on tho:/ so far he's een right, just want to see.

If the blinker somehow caused the DRLs to turn on I was thinking that you could find the positive from the light above the rear window and use it instead

The one I have will handle it. Its an 8 pin so theres power in, ground, then on input and two outputs on one part and the same again on another. I'd use one of the marker lights and the power in to do both sides. Reason for me asking about the turn signals. Cuz if they do come on the both sides will blink whenever the side its tapped from blinks

Hey keeper and LTZTom, since you might be getting to it before me here's what baking said when I asked him if turning on the blinker will trigger the DRLs.

"It does not being your tied Into the parking light side of it not the blinker"

I think what he's meaning is there are 3 wires going into the parking lights:1 pos, 1 neg, 1 signal wire that triggers it to blink when blinker is engaged. The power wire he tapped into only charges when the parking light feature is on. The blinking wire is strictly for the blinker.

In case it can help

So maybe it's a separate wire? Marker vs blinker?

Correct, there are three wires feeding the parking lamps, so one should be for the blinker function

Makes things much easier for me! I just ordered my strips and h11 extenders so ill be doing it whenever they come from china lol

I removed the return spring in the switch and now the switch stays in the off position. I never have my DRL's on now and it was an easy 10 minute fix. No need for rewiring anything just remove the spring in the switch and you are good to go..

How can we use an h11 extension when the factory harness is in the dust cap already? Can the plug come out from in there and the new end from the extension go in in its place?

Sorry I haven't responded in awhile. We're you able to get it working Keeper? And if so then was there anything you'd like to add to the instructions? I know you mention the extensions plugging in to the bulb and was wondering if you had a solution. I'm about to go ahead and order mine too.

My stuff hasn't shown up yet... I believe you can get the wires off the main plug but idk which wires that will be... I think I'm gunna have to cut a hole in the cap to feed the extension through and part of my opt7 led harness to go be able do do the wiring
