interesting point about removing the spring in the switch..still wouldn't turn off the drl though..thats gonna take some wire harness or bcm work..

Incorrect. At least on my 2015, drl and automatic headlights stay off now. If only I could get the dash light intensity to link to the headlight switch position, I'd be fully satisfied.

Hmm, I haven't tried it during the day but I tried it last night, as soon as it's put in drive the lights come back on,even if I hold the switch on the off position.. This was on my 14 sle

Rick, you are missing the point. The lights should be off whenever I start my truck. The lights should remain off until I decide to turn them on. Dantheman, this has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with not liking having decisions made on my behalf without my consent, even if the issue is as simple as daytime running lights and automatic lights.

Perhaps you are inadvertently turning them back on? Setting switch from from Auto-Off-Auto once it disables them; doing Auto-Off-Auto again turns them back on.

With the spring removed my switch stays in the Off position. Now every time I start my truck I get a message in the DIC telling me the auto light function is disabled.

Yea I'm not to sure.. I know when I'm holding it off and put it in Park the lights turn back off.. I'm gonna have to pull the spring out of mine and see what it does.. Then disable the light sensor.

Since several years ago, I've wondered about that. Setting the BCM to a default set for another country may work with a few things I wanted turned off.

If you unclip the plug on the dash sensor, does that disable the auto lights?

Laughed at that part. You consented to purchase the truck in the form in which it operates at the time of purchase. No feature was forced upon you against your will after the bill of sale was signed - so blaming you ignorance to the function of the vehicle instead on willful disobedience from said vehicle is absolutely absurd.

Dangerdick: first of all, love the name. Second, If I want to disable DRLs, the dealers should offer the service of disabling said DRLs for free or a small fee since there are no laws requiring automatic and DRL features.
