Shifting Problem?

2014 RCSB with trailer package, 5.3L & 3.42 gears.

I have 750 miles on the truck now, and tried a few WOT pulls. Nothing fancy, just pedal to the floor and accelerate to the posted speed limit on the highway (70mph).

Consistently, the truck will bang against the rev limiter before shifting. Feels like shifting a manual. :D

Probably going to visit the dealer for this, because I've not had a late model GM vehicle behave this way.

Another concern is trans temp. Ambient temp today was 60* and the trans temp was up to 195* just cruising the highway. This seems a bit high considering the trailering package comes with an external trans cooler. By comparison, the 2013 ECSB I had that was similarly equipped, typically ran no more than 175* on days where the ambient temp was over 100*.

While I will probably take the truck in to the dealer for both these issues, I'd like to hear from anyone that would like to weigh in.

Thanks for reading.

Mine shifts really weird if I punch it from a dead stop, but wow does it burn the tires while it's trying to figure out what gear to shift into. It actually surprised me. I've only done it twice, I had to haha.

When I first saw my tranny temp, my heart jumped into my throat. Then I looked in the manual, and found that is normal operating temp for these trucks.

I've seen my tranny temp around 190 a few times, it doesn't concern me. Mine shifts so smooth I can't feel it, but then I've never done a full throttle run either.

My trans temp is same also. Im not sure why because my 2010 never got that high!! Only during tuning and beating on it. I also had a 160 stat too though and I may possibly try a cooler stat to see if that helps if anyone can come up with one. My little brothers 2011 will be 120 while racing while my 2014 will be 205-210. Driving both trucks exactly the same. Im wondering if a tuned trucks trans is running any cooler since trans is shifting into gear and not slipping into gear.

your trans temp is right on target with this truck... 195-199 is the norm.

As for the trans shift ... it get better with time. Your truck is still brand new. I noticed a nice improvement when I hit about 4 -5 K miles..

On January 27, I bought a 2014 Silverado work truck with a 6 cylinder engine. The first day, I heard a loud bang in the transmission. It happened 2 more times in the last 3 weeks. Took it to the dealer. They said they can't find anything wrong. Any suggestions???

Today I took the truck back to the dealer because it tried to kill me yesterday. I pulled out of a parking lot on to a city street and pressed the gas pedal a little, planning to get up to about 25 mph because there was a red light a block away. The truck responded as if I had floored the pedal and wanted to get up to 120 mph as fast as possible. I hit the brakes thinking the cruise control had gone nuts and hitting the brakes would would turn it off. It kept accelerating with the tach over 5000. I shifted to Neutral and it dropped down to idle.

The light turned Green and I shifted back to Drive and the tach immediately went back to 5000. I put it back in Neutral, moved over to the shoulder and turned the key off. Then I started the engine again and the problem disappeared. I'm 72; if my wife had been driving by herself, she probably would have had a serious wreck.

Has anybody out there had this problem?

NO! Your truck did try and kill you.. When I started reading that I thought, come on, his truck didn't try to kill him.. My apologies! I wouldn't want to drive that truck anymore, or let my wife drive it until they had a DEFINITE answer on what caused that, not just "We can't duplicate the issue".. Luckily you are probably a skilled driver and quick on your feet, as many people wouldn't have thought to shift it into N quick enough.
