G80 differential

I've had the locking differential in my GM's since a new '85 k10 blazer.  They all behave different.  The K10 was the best, no clunk, just go.  The loose wheel would barely turn before the traction wheel would move the car. The 80's something K1500 was the worst.  It had 33" mudders and the loose wheel would get up to big speed before it would lock and then just about turn the truck sideways. My present '99 Sierra needs enough loose wheel speed that when it locks it does a big tire chirp. Is there another diff available like the old posi that is pre loaded and engages smoothly? I'll be ordering an '03 shortly and I'll only get the G80 if that's all there is available.

Thanks

My 1500HD came with the G80 "Differential, Locking, Heavy-Duty, Rear" and you can tell locks instantaneously.  There is no delay, just both rear tires bite.  We got about 6 inches of snow today so far and it worked great.

There was another option for my truck but it was for the Quad-steer only, G86 "Differential, Limited Slip, Heavy-Duty, Rear" I had Limited slip in my other GM vehicles, one wheel would spin like crazy then it would start to "transfer" power to the other wheel.

Is this option the same in all the Silverados? (LT and HD)
