RC leveling kit install

Hey guys I've been checking out the 2" level kit from rc and it looks good but why do the three steering connectors need to be unplugged? Someone on here said they were told to unplug the battery to avoid damage to the rack. Also does alignment need to be redone? And last, looking at the install, couldn't someone just unbolt the bottom shock bolts and using a little bottle Jack just compress the shock a little and slide spacer in? Wouldn't that be much easier?

I thought about the same thing with the jack and sliding it in. Hopefully someone on here has tried it out and can let us know!

The three plugs are for the electronic steering I believe. Honestly just disconnect your battery to cut power to everything. And as far as using the jack to compress the shock, well then how will u get it to slide off the jack onto the mount without it being a disaster. I've done a few of these and it's very simple. Just release the ball joint and sway bar to make your life easy like the directions say. And most def will need an alignment anytime you change the geometry of your front suspension. Good luck pm me if you have any questions.

With most of these kits you can sometimes unbolt the bottom of the shock and loosen your tie rod ends to get the spacer in place. They tell you to unplug the connectors or unplug the battery because these trucks have the stabilitrack. One of the key factors of the stabilitrack is to sense the position of your steering. If this gets changed it can affect the stabilitrack. That is why it is also important when you get an alignment to make sure you take it to a shop that has the proper equipment for the stabilitrack. A lot of alignment shops still don't have the correct equipment to reset or adjust your steering sensors after doing an alignment. I got an alignment once last year and told the shop to correct my steering wheel because it was leaning. They did the entire alignment then told me I had to take my truck to the dealer now to get the sensors adjusted or reset because they changed the steering. So I had to pay twice for the same work. Needless to say I don't use that shop anymore.
