I need some help. I have a 96 k1500 that ran but needed a tune up, so I put plugs and wires on and changed the oil and filter, just general stuff or so I thought. when I finished I tried starting it and nothing! does not even crank. I can hear the fuel pump come on but that's it does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? this is my daily driver, so im needing to fix this asap.

check to see if you are getting a start signal to your starter. have a buddy turn it over while you hold a test light to the smaller (i believe its purple) wire at the starter and see if you have power when he hits the switch. if not check fuses/ wiring/ignition switch(electrical) if you have power check that you have a good constant 12v hot at the starter(big wire) and a good ground (by the engine mount on the passenger side of the block) and if all is well there, replace the starter.

if it will spin over but not crank, check your wires 1357 on driver side 2468 on passenger. cap is numbered. check coil wire, check wires from the harness going into the coil, have seen wires break often here. check that the cap and rotor are secure. and make sure that the cps plug on the distributor is connected well.

Also check your battery connections. My 96 k1500 is picky about the connection being tight especially in the winter time. Also when you turn the key on what does your voltage gauge say on the dash?
