I must be missing something here. Why would anybody want an APP in a truck - unless the APPs are locked-out while in Drive. Sounds to me like it would be rather distracting using some APPs seeing that you would be taking your eyes off the road. A dangerous situation for you and others on the road. Where I live fiddling with something like this when driving will get you a hefty 'distracted driving' fine.

App is just a buzzword. Basically what they mean is there will be some downloadable menu's that allow other types of radio and entertainment.

I have another post on this and am very disappointed in the lack of apps in the mylink system and was told by other members to be happy I have a 50k dollar truck and to not worry about the lack of apps. I should not expect luxury in a truck.... Still don't know why there is arrows on the screen to go to different pages when there is a total of 5 apps for the thing. should be called stupilink

Looks like a 2014 with the radio knobs not lit up... The screen and radio knobs are 1 unit, so it can be done. Maybe add an antenna and 4g card behind the stack?

They will fix that under warranty.... NOT lol

they just fixed my halo rings last week. Just stand your ground and they will approve the fix.

Sent an email to the big wigs about future updates for the 2014s, this response is sad and pathetic that they will not honor future updates for the my link system in our trucks:

First, thank you for purchasing a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Mrs. Barra, myself and the rest of the GM team are extremely proud of our new trucks and hope that same feeling is shared by you, our customer. As you mentioned in your note, the pickup came with the Chevrolet MyLink color radio. Like every company, we're moving fast to keep up with the pace of digital electronics and for each model year, make the newest and greatest features available.

The MyLink radio in future models may look the same as the one in your Silverado, but have additional features. It is the same thing that happens when you buy a new smart phone -- the new phone likely has additional memory or an updated processor that enable it to run aps that your old phone can't. So while the current generation of MyLink radios have many great features, we don't currently have the ability to provide updates to them.

Thanks again for being a Chevrolet customer, and thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Are you kidding me? He just compared it to a smart phone...smart phones get periodic updates that do keep them relevant! This guy needs some new PR material fast.

This is straight HORSESH1T.

Smartphones are supported for at least 2 years. Apple will support each iPad till at least two newer model upgrades come to market.

We're not asking for hardware upgrades here. Just continue to refine the software we have on the 2014s. We paid quite a bit for these systems to just be stuck with this laggy crap. If the '15s are drastically improved, then they should at least offer an avenue for us to upgrade. Even if it costs us.

If GM doesn't want to support its IT products, then GM needs to get out of the IT business. Or open it up to 3rd party companies to provide solutions.

I think we should email them and voice our displeasure. Enough negativity and they will have to respond . You may post the email over every site you visit. If you want the CEOs and the guys email address just pm me.
