Review from order to 600 miles Z71 LTZ

I ordered my Silverado on 12/4/13 and it was delivered to me on 2/4/14. It took about 2 weeks to get from Mexico to the dealer. I followed my order once per day on the Chevy customer service chat. Most days they were able to tell me where my truck was.

I have a black, short bed ,crew cab , Z71 LTZ 6.2l. Sunroof, Bose, leather, navigation, under seat storage, 20 inch rims, chrome tow hooks, led bed lighting, heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats. Basically everything but the lane departure.

I had the Chevy mudflaps and led lighting installed by my dealer. I installed the Tuxedo Lo Pro QT soft tonneau cover myself. So far I love the versatility of this cover and I would highly recommend it. I also installed Westin oval platinum side steps myself. They look and work ok but I wish I bought the factory steps. I did save about $350 buying and installing them myself. I purchased the weather tech digital fit floor mats for the front and the back. They fit perfect and no dirt gets in around them. The free mats that come with the truck are tiny and useless. I had the 2 front windows tinted at 35% and it looks very nice. Anything darker and it's hard to see out of in the dark.

Currently I have about 600 miles on my truck. I get compliments from strangers all the time about how sharp it looks. I am averaging 17 mpg according to the truck computer running 93 octane. This is all rural driving and it's skewed a little by several remote starts. I love the onstar iPhone app. It takes about 30-45 seconds to work but I don't need any line of sight to start my truck. This app is free for 5 years with any 2014 Silverado.

The 6.2L engine has a lot of power. I do not regret this option choice. It is an absolute beast! It did take me some time getting used to the throttle response of this truck. The throttle is not all that responsive at the beginning of the pedal. I have however gotten used to it and I do not notice it now. I think it might be a gas saving design. I also can not tell if I'm in V4 or V8 mode unless I look at the dash. It's very seemless to me.

The cabin is the quietest of any vehicle I've ever owned. If you have the radio on at a even a low volume level you can barely hear anything outside. The intellilink system works great with my iPhone for making calls and playing music. I use the streaming service app Spotify to play my music. Spotify streams at a bit rate of 320kbps. I've compared the same songs from XM and Spotify and the sound quality difference is quite noticeable. The Bose system goes very loud, sounds awesome and has a lot of bass.

My intellink does not lag and is quite responsive. I've tested the navigation a few times when I knew my route already. I was impressed with the detail and accuracy of the navigation. Over all the buttons, gauges, and knobs are all in the right spots.

The heated seats get very warm and work great. Some have said they don't get warm enough, but I have to turn mine down or off once I get warmed up.

I do not have any of the complaints or problems other people have experienced. The radio reception is fine, no vibrations, and the driver seat is secure. My only issue so far is my backup camera has a yellow tint to it. At my first oil change I will show it to the dealership. My headlights are super bright and light everything up in front of me. I would not change them out.

I'm sure I've left a lot out ,but overall I'm extremely satisfied with my truck. It looks sharp, has tons of power, adequate options, and rides great. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a new truck.

Sounds like a sweet ride! A side note if I may, I have noticed that the MyLink (intellilink) systems are faster and more responsive over when they launched.

I concur WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice to see someone list all the GOOD points for a change with no BASHING. I knew there were some of us out there who just enjoy the hell out of our trucks and have very few, if any, complaints. Thanks for the great write-up, Mike!!!! You expressed my sentiments EXACTLY!!

I agree none of the major issues others have reported with mine after 350 miles either. Some quirks with bluetooth stuff but nothing I can't deal with. The 6.2 is a beast, If it would ever warm up and I could keep my foot out of it I would like to see what kind of mileage I can knock down with it.

What color is the interior of the truck? Curious what color mats you ordered?

Brian, I noticed you have the cocoa/dune interior. i have the same and purchased the tan weather tech mats . They look good.

I have the black interior and I have black floor mats. I might buy a pair of carpet floor mats for the summer. I can't see any carpet with the weather techs. The good thing is my carpets are not getting trashed.

Awesome. My GMC Sierra SLT gets built this first week in march. I am hoping to have my truck soon after due to the fact that i live in IL. and the truck will be built in Indiana.
