2014 gmc sierra z71 worst purchase ever

Well I purchased a 2014 sierra 1500 crew cab z71 slt back in September. It was a pain to find one with everything I wanted but one was located two weeks into it. Unfortunately, the one that arrived for me was missing several of my required options and had gray interior instead of black. So it was a wash. There was a F150 with everything I wanted but decided to wait three more weeks for the GMC. One was located and delivered. First impression was I loved it and was glad I didn't go Ford. Within 3 days it had to go in for service because the radio and navigation froze. A little over a week later I got my new truck fixed. No big deal. 5-7 weeks later the heated seats stopped working and it sat in the shop for two more weeks. Little disappointed but it is what it is. Well 6-7 weeks later I notice I'm leaking oil and there is a high pitch squeal as I drive. Take it to the shop and it sits there for another week. I was told it was just a bad seal on the oil filter, my oil levels were fine but since I had 550 miles to go before I needed an oil change, they refused to complete an oil change. No biggie I don't have a job and love bringing my new truck to the dealer so often that I will be happy coming back soon just for an oil change. Well they also informed me they could not fix the noise and that I needed my exhaust system replaced to fix the noise. They did not have the parts and it would take 2 weeks for the parts to come in. They told me to come pick it up until they get the parts and drive it. Well enough was enough and I spoke to gmc and they offered to give me a truck with several less options for mine. But wait they need 6k from me. So let me get this straight. I buy a truck with every available option, put down 20k put 10k miles on it and I have to spend 6k more for a less equipped truck because the one you sold me is falling apart. Sorry GM but that's garbage. But I'm just one guy and my business doesn't matter. So what if you lose one customer. Maybe if I informed you of my profession and what role I play in deciding what vehicles are purchased for the city things might have been handled differently or not . No matter what GM was the worst purchase I ever made. Just a heads up for anyone who thinks I'm just a ford fan and bashing gm; besides my jeep I have only purchased gm products, that's right never owned a Ford.

I just read your post. It's almost exactly like my situation. I've been posting on this site about the problems I've had with my new 2014 GMC...but in a different area. Anyway, to make a long story short...I can confirm the fact that GM Corporate does not give a damn about the customer. In fact, I have 2 tickets open with them. The first person I spoke with when I opened the first ticket was rude and couldn't have cared less...and the second wasn't much better. In fact, I haven't heard anything back from them and it's been 2 months now. Luckily, the local GM rep has been working with me. Since my truck has been plagued with problems...he has offered to trade me out of the truck. After having no luck in finding one equipped like mine...we decided to order a brand new one, and just trade me out...straight across. However, keep in mind...it's the local GM doing this on his own...Corporate GM basically told me "screw you" when I told them I was not happy and I wanted them to buy it back. I'm in my 50's and have always been a die hard GM fan. But, that has all changed now. This will be the last GM I will ever buy. In my opinion, not only does their customer service suck...but their quality has went way down. I just hope I have better luck with the new truck that was ordered. I should have it in about 3 weeks. We'll see! I will post again with the experience.

Good for you in regards to getting a new ride. I'm not sure what happened to GM. I had a 2002 2500hd for 9 years. Besides the normal stuff, I only had to replace a power window motor 6 years after purchase. I have friends and coworkers with f250s and one with a tundra with zero issues. I have learned my lesson. I won't order GM products for myself, my family, or for work again.

Take a guess.

I'm sorry to hear your problems guys but I can tell you GM is not the only one with issues and by far not even close to the worst customer service. I always hear people say how they will never buy a certain brand after having issues with one of their products, but the thing is a few products have nothing to do with how good or bad a company is. I had a BMW that was deemed to have a design flaw. A few years ago the E46 3 series subframe would actually rip out of the car. Yes rip out. Only after a class action suit did BMW get forced into fixing them. How did they fix them? Many of them they used an expanding foam epoxy!! The real bad ones they would replace the subframe on or buy the car back.. Keep in mind this is late model 2000 era vehicles, and they only fixed them for a couple years. If it happens today your screwed. Comes out of pocket. Now that has left a bad taste in my mouth about them.

No truer words spoken man... I have always owned GM vehicles but I wouldn't consider myself "brand loyal"... I have always bought GM vehicles because the local dealership treated me right and they had the vehicles that fitted my needs. The moment the local dealership stops treating me with respect is when I go looking for a dealership that will and I wouldn't care if that's Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, or Jimmy Joe's AutoWorld. The reason is that all manufacturers have issues with their vehicles, all of them, don't tell me otherwise because it isn't true and that's especially true when it comes to the 1st year run of a design change. The defining difference is how the dealership handles it and values you as a customer that puts money in their pockets!

Sorry to hear about the OP's problems and I hope that you get it sorted out!

Go to a Ford or RAM truck forum & look for customer service threads. They feel the same as you with regard to corporate treating their problems as they do not matter. Have never really been on a import sort of forum, so cannot say the same for them either way.

Find your dealers factory rep & take up a case with them. E mail them this thread, show the views & complaints if need be.

I do not own a 2014 as with any new model vehicle, there will be more than others that have issues. Even when I was looking at used, would purposely avoid looking at the 2007.5 -2008 & 1999 model year GM trucks.

Same with Ford in the 2004-05 & again the 2009 m.y. for the same reason. Not there is anything specifically wrong with them, it is just my perception of a new model & knowing they do updates the following year based on claims. But again, I know lemons are made in every single model year & there is always that risk.
