2014 gmc sierra z71 worst purchase ever

Well I purchased a 2014 sierra 1500 crew cab z71 slt back in September. It was a pain to find one with everything I wanted but one was located two weeks into it. Unfortunately, the one that arrived for me was missing several of my required options and had gray interior instead of black. So it was a wash. There was a F150 with everything I wanted but decided to wait three more weeks for the GMC. One was located and delivered. First impression was I loved it and was glad I didn't go Ford. Within 3 days it had to go in for service because the radio and navigation froze. A little over a week later I got my new truck fixed. No big deal. 5-7 weeks later the heated seats stopped working and it sat in the shop for two more weeks. Little disappointed but it is what it is. Well 6-7 weeks later I notice I'm leaking oil and there is a high pitch squeal as I drive. Take it to the shop and it sits there for another week. I was told it was just a bad seal on the oil filter, my oil levels were fine but since I had 550 miles to go before I needed an oil change, they refused to complete an oil change. No biggie I don't have a job and love bringing my new truck to the dealer so often that I will be happy coming back soon just for an oil change. Well they also informed me they could not fix the noise and that I needed my exhaust system replaced to fix the noise. They did not have the parts and it would take 2 weeks for the parts to come in. They told me to come pick it up until they get the parts and drive it. Well enough was enough and I spoke to gmc and they offered to give me a truck with several less options for mine. But wait they need 6k from me. So let me get this straight. I buy a truck with every available option, put down 20k put 10k miles on it and I have to spend 6k more for a less equipped truck because the one you sold me is falling apart. Sorry GM but that's garbage. But I'm just one guy and my business doesn't matter. So what if you lose one customer. Maybe if I informed you of my profession and what role I play in deciding what vehicles are purchased for the city things might have been handled differently or not . No matter what GM was the worst purchase I ever made. Just a heads up for anyone who thinks I'm just a ford fan and bashing gm; besides my jeep I have only purchased gm products, that's right never owned a Ford.

GM actually offered you less money, General Motors the manufacture made this offer???

Or did the dealer make the offer to you, as you know they are not one in the same as GM does not sell vehicles to the public. The dealer does that part.

Sorry about your trouble.. but based on the above statement, you should have never purchased the truck to begin with. 45K+ ... you should have never compromised to begin with.

Huh? Sorry, something doesn't quite compute. I'm not saying you've been treated right as I don't know all the details, but I'm reading some conflicting info here. Was it fully loaded...or not? We talking about two different trucks here?

The long paragraphs make it hard to read, I believe what happened was he refused that truck and they brought in a gmc with the options he wanted.

First model year purchases can go that way.

But manufacturing in Mexico with questionably trained workers and making half of the parts in China without adequate quality control have nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Hmmm...ok after re-reading about 3 times, I can see where you're coming from and I think I agree. Wow, ok. I'm just gonna sit this one out. Wow.

Sorry I typed it on my iPhone while still fuming over everything. The first truck that came in didn't have all of my requested options. I did not take possession of that one. They located one with all the options that I wanted and purchased that one.

The vehicle I purchased was loaded with a 49k window sticker. They offered to buy my truck back and give me another one with less options but I would have to drop more money. I don't want a lesser truck for more money. I simply want a working truck for what I paid.

Now starts the lemon law process.

Ya phones can suck to type on.

Good luck with the truck though, hopefully it works out for ya.

The question I have is did everything get fix? Has there been more problems? Could be the best truck you ever owned now, or not.

Thought the lemon law applied to trying to fix the same problem 3 or more times. Did not think it applied to multiple/various problems? Not trying to throw salt in the wound & would be just as irritated with the issues you noted.

Sucks to hear your having these issues. So did they fix your Nav/Radio issue and oil leak? So all your left with is needing a new exhaust? If that's the extent of your problems, count your blessings as some have vibration issues. Personally i wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water if your only issue now is needing a new exhaust that the dealer will replace. Have them replace it at your oil change.

Does anyone ever get into their truck and just sit there for a moment and think, "Wow, how cool is it that we in this day and age can build something like this. Something with this much technology, economy, power, luxury, etc." We are a long long ways from Michael Landon's horse drawn wagon.

I would be JUST AS MAD as you are if I had multiple problems with my brand new truck. When I had my brand new SUV hit two days later with 59 miles on it I was pissed. Everyone told me to suck it up, it's a car, be happy your alive, etc. I understood, but I was still mad and wanted a brand new one.. While I still think if someone hits a couple day/week/month old car their insurance should replace it, I do understand that things happen, and problems do arise. GM cannot go replacing everyone's $50,000 truck when they have a few problems.. Now, when something breaks on a brand new truck, my first thought is, this is BS I didn't pay this money for this. Afterthought tells me, things happen, we are all only human, and these are man made products. Problems are a part of the game.. I am sure GM would love if their vehicles didn't break when they are brand new, but when it happens it's an unfortunate thing, and all you can do is move on, and do the best you can, and expect the dealer to do the best they reasonably can.

I am sorry to hear your truck is having such issues, and if the dealer is not offering the best service I would try another one. But personally, I wouldn't expect GM to replace the vehicle unless the issues were actual design flaws rather than just defective parts.

I'm still waiting for the exhaust system to be fixed.

The dealership told me they will look I to it and offered a free extended warranty. I then called gmc customer service and that's when I was offered the deal for 6k out of pocket for a new truck with less options. I told gmc and the dealership that it wasn't good enough. I told them both this because both of them are now involved. They came back with the same offer but 3k out of my pocket. The entire time they have asked me not to go the lemon law route.

To the question regarding lemon law it varies from state to state In Florida it also covers this:

Lemon Law Details - Out of Service

If a vehicle is in and out of an authorized repair show for one or more different problems for 15 or more cumulative days then the consumer gives written notice of this fact to the manufacturer.

My truck has spent over 30 days in the shop. I was good doing the extended warranty option but the dealer told me if I put a lift on it I will void the warranty. I want a leveling kit to run slightly bigger tires but scared to do so because of the issues. I know they are two different things but the dealership said even a leveling kit will void my warranty.

As for the be grateful comment, I'm sorry but I put a long arm kit, 40s , and a supercharger on a 2010 rubicon and never had a single issue. Thought jeeps were the unreliable vehicles.

You shouldn't have to settle for a crappy ride is all. If people just say okay this guy is having more problems than I am,so I should just suck it up and be glad. then companies will continue to sell consumers garbage. I shouldn't have to take a new truck to get fixed every 2 months.

No matter what I will take a loss on this but I will inform everyone I know about gmc customer service and poor product quality. I thought about just trading it in, but then I would be screwing someone with it.

Damn it I really wanted a vette too.
