Hard vs. Soft Tonneau Cover

I had a RollNLock of my previous truck. I liked that cover a lot. But this time I think in going with the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite with the personal caddy option. The personal caddy is like a flush mounted toolbox under the cover. It mounts right behind the cab under one section of the hard folding cover and can be locked.

I have an Extang Solid Fold. Installs in maybe 5 minutes. Off in half that at most. No rails, no drip tubes or anything else. Folds to allow use of 2/3 of the bed. The BakFlip seems decent but I don't like the idea of adding the rails and such to mount it. And the hard roll ups are a disaster waiting to happen if you get snow/ice IMO.

you have to put rails on with any cover anyways...otherwise how does it attach to the bed, besides a snap cover

See the extang solid fold. No rails. Just pure awesome. :)

Now tha't I've fixed my undercover flex i'm quite happy with it. It had major failure in the adhesive on some of the seals and let a lot of water in. Gorilla glue to the resuce and now it's pretty much water tight. Super conveient and I feel like it's pretty secure.

Had this on my '11 Ram, loved it, VERY easy to fold back, take off, put on....http://www.autoanything.com/tonneau-covers/60A4819A0A0.aspx

TonnoPro Soft Tri-Fold, $264 to your door! Kept stuff DRY and looked nice. Had a buddy buy '14 Silverado Crew Cab and sought my advice, he bought this and loves it also!

I will probably look at the TonnoPro Hard Fold, it's like the GM one but 1/2 cost or so....it's hardshell trifold with their soft cover over it to protect the panels from hail, weather, etc......350lb limit on top if you want to sit up there on a chair at a game or whatever...and then you can LOCK your tailgate and expect pretty good security protection as well. $519 to your DOOR!

I just ordered a TonnoPro Tri-fold soft cover ($240 from zigsauto on eBay), and I'm planning to attach panels between the frame and vinyl (similar to their Hard Fold cover but without the added supports). Will cost about $40.

It's no Roll-X or Roll-n-Lock, but it will keep would-be thieves from slicing through the vinyl and taking whatever might be in the bed.

I have an Access vanish (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GBP72XQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER).

I really like it and will be getting one for my new truck. It rolls up very small and is much stronger than I expected. We had a few really good snow dumps this winter and it held it fine. One was a bout 12" followed by rain so the snow was very heavy.

My bed was broken into one time. Tailgate was unlocked. They opened it, found nothing, and then broke into my wife's car.

You have use of the entire bed with nothing blocking your view. out the back.

I had a RollNLock on a 2010 Ford F-150. I liked that cover a lot but the rolling mechanism did create a small amount of unusable space in the front of the bed. I ordered the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite with the personal caddy this time. I ordered it directly from their website (www.foldacover.com). I have also seen the cover on shopgmcparts.com.

I love this cover!!! The personal caddy does take up bed space...but it's a locking compartment and provides a lot of storage. Installation was easy...I installed the cover by myself in about 45 minutes. Dropping the personal caddy in place did require help from a bud.
