outer tie-rod end is leaking

Recommended Posts

My 2009 Sierra's driver-side outer tie-rod end is leaking grease both from the boot and also from the grease fitting, so I'll need to replace it, but I have questions...

Can the boot alone be replaced or is it better to replace the entire end?

I add two pumps of #2 grease from a standard grease gun about every 8-10 months to all my grease fittings...is this too much? I live and work in what most would call a "harsh environment" of desert and mountain terrain.

thanx y'all

Yes you need to replace it and you cant just replace the boot, 8-10 months is a little too much if the boot is not leaking and really 1 pump is plenty anymore and you will blow the boot out.
