Vehicle Chime/Front Door Speakers

On my 2008 Silverado, both front door speakers intermittently stop working, rendering the all audible alerts inoperative, as well as seriously degrading the sound system quality. When the front door speakers stop sounds that are nearly unheard include:

• Backup sensor chime
• Keys in ignition chime
• Turn signal chime

My local dealership says to replace both front door speakers, but I have my doubts this is the issue since BOTH speakers stop working at the exact same time and then start working again at the exact same time.

 

Anyone else out there seen this issue, and hopefully resolved it?

Suggest when they're not functioning (to narrow down possibilities) pull driver side door panel, remove speaker. Test speaker and signal to it.

OK, I AM AMAZED! I did replace both speakers and that seems to have resolved the issue. The total cost for both speakers was $89.12. I performed the labor myself.

 

Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem.
