2014 Sierra AT on order!

Last month I put in my order for a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT. I got the double cab in Iridium Metallic, 4 wheel drive, all terrain package, preferred package and the L86 6.2L. This is my first new vehicle, but my 5th GM vehicle. Technically my 2nd new vehicle if you count the wife's Terrain. I put the order in on the 12th of April and it rolled off the line on the 8th of May. Just waiting for it to arrive at the dealer now.

I love reading these posts, I was so fortunate to find my 2014 Black AT fully loaded 6.2l truck on the lot at the 2nd dealer I went to. turns out it was the only one in the state like it!

they weren't real happy to give much of a discount on it because it was so rare. and the 1st dealer I talked to located it but didn't think the dealer who had it would be willing to part with it.

my only gripe is the fact it came with the crappy 18" chrome wheels and the AT has way too much chrome on it already.

so I have blacked out the chrome on the mirrors and the door handles with 3m Gloss black vinyl wrap. it looks as goof as paint and a fraction of the cost.

as soon as I get some different wheels ill be blacking out the chrome on the doors and just below the roll up door glass.

why on earth they decided to black out the chrome bumpers and leave all the other crappy chrome accents on the truck is beyond me!

if I wanted chrome I could have got any other truck on the lot equipped that way.

so I guess the good news is I didn't have to wait, I thought I was going to buy a tundra but the GMC sierra won me over for about the same money as a platinum tundra.

dealer 1 tried to sell me a 5.3 equipped AT because they didn't have the 6.2, and I am so glad I did my homework, and got the 6.2

I love the stereo, the nav, and the MPG ive been averaging 23 mpg on the highway at sustained speeds of 75-80 mph and even towed a 4 bike trailer with 4 dirtbikes and a truckload of gear and guys over the rocky mountains and still managed 15.5 MPG!

my Toyota Tacoma got 19 mpg on the same trip empty!

I put flomaster exhaust on it and I grin every time I hear it!

I sold my 2012 Centennial edition Z06 corvette and miss it, but now I can live vicariously through my GMC! LOL

Really the only reason I ordered mine was because I wanted to be the only one to have ever driven it. I didn't want to buy one off a lot or on a dealer trade that had some yahoo joy riding in it. There are a couple 6.2s around me, but I was set on ordering mine to get it exactly the way I wanted it. Sounds like you got a good truck though! I'm hoping to average somewhere around 16-18 with mine with my mixed city-highway driving. I could average 27mpg in my 06 Monte Carlo without trying too hard and that was rated at 21/31.

I have been checking all week and it is still bayed in the Roanoke holding facility. :(

congrats ordered mine and got it 4/30 , been avg 18-19 mixed with a little heavy footedness, YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!

worst part is waiting the first 500-1000 miles to step on it

Why do you have to wait 500-1000 miles to "step on it"? I you don't think that motor was taken to redline when the motor was built and once the truck was built then think again.

Drive the truck like you are going to drive it.

Drive the truck like you are going to drive it.

Its for the transmission as well. Start beating on a new motor and learn the hard way like i did a few years back.

From the owners manual on page 9-24:

"The vehicle does not need an elaborate break-in. But it will perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines:

. Keep the vehicle speed at 88 km/h (55 mph) or less for the first 805 km (500 mi).

. Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or slow, for the first 805 km (500 mi). Do not make full-throttle starts. Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle."

Nice. I did same yesterday. Same rig, engine and color. Less than 4 weeks is great. I was told by my dealer to expect 6-8 weeks.

Enjoy dude.

I did 75 on the highway on the way home with mine with 50 miles on it.

I haven't gotten it yet, it is still in the Roanoke holding area. Hopefully soon though I will take delivery of it. My dealer also told me 6-8 weeks. I'm guessing it will be within that timeframe that I will be able to pick up the truck.

I have someone interested in my Monte Carlo finally - we'll see if anything comes of that.... Wife says that has to go before I take delivery of the truck. Hopefully it will work out like that.

Have been checking daily on the truck and it hasn't moved yet from the Roanoke IN holding area. I've been checking both with the GM reps here, using the GMC chat, and calling my dealership. No movement yet though. Very frustrating - it's been there since the 8th of this month. :-( What's worse is there is no timing of when it will be shipped. I know of a few other people that have ordered their truck after I did and they have it already which makes it even more frustrating. Hopefully it isn't tied to the dealership's sales - what I mean is hopefully the dealership isn't obligated to sell a few of the ones on the lot before mine ships out. I don't know that they have moved any K2s since I placed my order in early April.

Well I work at the Ft.Wayne assembly plant and if you're waiting on your trucks to arrive they may be delayed. I think the rail system is a little behind. We have trucks parked all over waiting to be shipped. The good news is a lot of them shipped this past weekend. So hope you get them soon.
