Bose speaker replacement help

If a person thinks the stock Bose sounds good they have never heard anything better! It's very flat and lifeless, no stage, no depth, period.

 

To a lot of people, even "installers" they think it sounds good because it has a lot of bass. Blah

 

The Harmon Kardon in my BMW BLOWS AWAY the Bose crap. Not to mention the Hertz components in my 2000 GMC 1500. I have JL amps, passive crossovers and the Hertz HSK 165s in the front, stock speakers in the rear doors, and a JL tw10 under the rear seat. A GOOD sony head unit that has a nice EQ, does time alignment, etc and it sounds ridiculous. I would much rather drive the old truck just to listen to music than the turd Bose in my new truck.

 

It will be getting a full Hybrid Audio 3 way active processing setup in the front, new sub in the center console, all ran by arc amps and either a Mosconi or Helix sound processor.

 

I love this truck, HATE the Bose.

You must have a different bose system than me because the one I have does not have much base at all. It's hardly a 90's bose system. It produces low frequencies very well without being booming. I personally hate base heavy systems.

 

Yeah, maybe some $600 components sound better, but this system sure as shit sounds better than some $200 speakers/sound processor/decent 4 channel.

 

I can only compare it to 2 modern systems which I've spent a significant amount of time in, acura els and audi b&o, and I think it is right on par with them.

 

Can you do better? sure, but it's a lot of money to get margionally better sound.

 

Worth it in a non-bose system? yeah probably.

 

Upgrading the bose system just has a very poor bang for the buck in my opinion, but hey, it's your money.

I respectfully disagree, to my ears you couldn't possibly be more wrong. I paid low 200s for my Hertz components in the old truck, no processor, running passive...

 

It absolutely DESTROYS the Bose in every measurable and audible sense. It's not even close.

 

The Bose is mediocre and the fact you think upgrading isn't worth it is hilarious. Yes high end audio equipment is expensive but to some of us it's worth it.

Sure. Head units that display camera feeds will, by default (law?) only show the camera when the vehicle is in reverse, or the parking brake is enabled. If you install a bypass, you can turn the camera feed on at any time by selecting the component from the head unit. So if you want to check out the people in the car behind you..., just kidding, but you could I guess. I use it to check on the trailer while driving from time-to-time.

 

Bypass units are pretty cheap. Thinking $15 gets you a good one.

so i just got the 2016 ltz crew with bench seat. with not liking how the boze sounds i did some research and i found by reading that it only has the 6 speaker set up and the front doors have the subs. it no wonder i could not get the stereo to sound right.

 

my question is since i am doing as most selecting more sound to the rear speakers would it not sound better if the subs or base speakers were in the rear doors. and the coaxial in the front. this is how all my car stereos have all been. i am just wondering if the speakers are the same size. and if i would need to change the wiring around from the receiver..

Ok so agreed the bose system does not sound good to me but I am an audiophile. I will help you guys out here and yes I have bypassed the bose 2x and it is not a fun thing as the outputs on the bose have horrible audio functioning and signals.

 

If you want to change the audio system the only way to truly bypass the bose is add an aftermarket deck. The pac gm-51 works great for that and go out for aftermarket deck to amp or processor

 

2nd option to improve your sound. Processor is great but I dont not care what manufacturers say they are not going to signal sum the outputs of the bose and give you a clean use able signal its still not going to sound good. So here are your solutions you need an interface that will signal sum AND give you the adjustability to low signal levels especially from your upper lever under the windows speakers they have a horrible high frequency response..

 

So as far as products if you do not want to run a processor I HIGHLY recommend using the audio control lc8i you need to run all 8 channels of output from your bose factory amp. The LC8i allows you to manually adjust the signal levels from the bose inputs to give you a pretty decent signal..

 

For better sound run the lc8i into a processor such as a audison bit one or bit ten hd or lc8i into a zapco dc series amp mosconi or audison amp with built in dsp

or

Helix processor which has built in input level adjustments as well as dsp kind of like combining the audio control lc8i with a good process like the audison bit one or mosconi 6 to 8

 

Good luck if you do not want to go a crazy route add a sub in but if you want good sound be prepared to put in some time and money and do it right and have a great sounding system
